So the latest firmware update has messed up some people's systems in the sense that it just won't give a shit when you put a disc in. It recognizes a disc is there (CD, DVD, PS3, Blu-Ray), but it just doesn't do anything to read it.

Now, personally, I installed the firmware via Street Fighter 4. And I have tried a few ways to fix the problem in the main system (not through the menu, but through the "programming" screen) and it hasn't worked. The only thing I can think of is to do an entire system re-format, and without any form of external memory drive, everything would be lost. I am not afraid to do it that way - but if that's the only way to fix it, that means not only do I lose everything, but I can't play Street Fighter.

Help, links, ideas would be useful.

Hmm.. I haven't heard of this new update, but I'm pretty sure they'll patch it soon. I'd wait a few days if I were you..

Well it's clear it's not the firmware or the update, and is an error with the system itself, and it's willingness to read discs despite knowing their in the system.

I'll either need to get a new system entirely, or find a way to get this one repaired.
