What would it be? I'm going to recommend one that you guys probably don't know (better than telling you to watch The Matrix).

Im Juli

http://www.new-video.de/co/imjuli.jpg

A German movie with a big heart. I usually compare them with movies like Garden State and Amélie. I guess it's a romantic and funny road movie.
Daniël, a German math teacher travels to Turkey because the girl Juli made him accidentily believe he'll find his true love there. Before he's out of town, guess which hitchhiker he picks up. Juli.

Try it (don't forget the English subs)!

I'd have to say Lost in Translation.

For anyone who's been in a different country, a different culture and felt left out, either because of not knowing the language or not being able to fit in.

I've been in both, at the same time. Really captures the emotion.

12 Angry Men (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0050083/)

A classic movie that takes place almost entirely within the space of one room. It'll make you appreciate the actors and writing of years past. Plus, the themes are still very much applicable to this day. Check it out.

I was a fan of this movie.
It has everything you could ask for.
Even a little detective work.

Also To Kill a Mockingbird.

As for the one movie I could recommend, I am going to think about this because honestly off the back it would be TDK but such a cliche answer for me.

Probably... Stand By Me.

Real sweet childhood-innocence/coming-of-age story.

Makers me miss wish I was kid again.

Hmm, if it was a case that somebody had never seen a film before I might go with 2001: A Space Odyssey.

If you've seen a lot of films, you've probably already seen 2001 so I would recommend something like Scarlett Street, a classic you may not have seen.

How about Unfaithful. A young foreign boy seduces and slams himself into Diane Lane over and over again.

I HATE this movie SO much.
We snuck into it after Spiderman (forget if 1 or 2) we were with a group of chicks so we saw a guy movie and a chick flick.

And the ending... with them just sitting in the car... pissed me off so much.

Especially after he bashed that kid's head in with the snowglobe.

I'm all for it, but should give people a head's up when starting in case they don't own (many of which I don't) so they can rent or borrow or buy.

Ill take this chance to mention Voces Inocentes (Innocent Voices). This is one of the best movies ive seen, one of few that actually made my eyes leak.

Its about this little boy, Chava, and his life in El Salvador in 1980 in a town trapped among guerilla and army altercations in a civil war that went on for 12 years, hell we still get this all over latin america, with the... god damn FARCS and the whatnots...

anyways, if you guys get a chance to watch this sometime go for it, dont forget the english subs.
