Just wondering..

and no, it's not an existential question. :p

Because everyone would rather watch a good TV series than play a good video game.

Because a video game and a movie are two very different things.

Despite what playing MGS4 has tricked you with.

Yeah, but I think his point is we already had a different forums for videogames and TV/Movies/whatever.

I'm not exactly sure it's necessary either, it just makes me have to click two or three more times every time I come here.

Oh no.
How ever will you survive.
It makes the forum more tidy, it makes it so there is a specific place for everything, so the forum doesnt consist of "Video games" and "Everything else."
It makes the forums look neater and tidier so there aren't a bunch of random stickies on the top relating to a bunch of random things.

And actually, you don't have to click any extra amount of times.

Typically, you would click the GT logo, then click "Happy Hour". Two clicks.

Now, you click the GT logo, then click "Movies&Television". Two clicks.

The fact people are so afraid of change is frightening in itself.

Uh yeah, but you just contradicted yourself. Normally all I had to do was click on Happy Hour and whatever threads within that. Now I have click out of that to go to the other sub forums and the threads contained within that. It does take more clicks and more time.

Also, one man's "tidy" is another man's "unnecessarily spread out" What's more tidy, one forum to click on or multiple sub forums? Arguments can be made for both.

Am I really that upset about it? Of course not. I've been coming here for almost 10 years and I'm not going to stop now. The old way was just fine the way it was in my opinion but this way is fine too.

I am all for the change, I think for too long we had all encompassing threads like Whatcha readin, last movie and stuff. Which I think is fine, but we can expand these and have more thought out conversations. I doubt it will happen, but it will be nice.

And really, I hope it opens up the Happy Hour forum to more creative threads. I mean at this point, most of us have been around long enough to know where the maturity line is.

I say try it out, if it fails, it fails but it was worth the effort.

Germy, I don't see how I contradicted myself.

If you're looking for a/wanting to post a thread on (let's say) a movie, you used to have to click "Happy Hour", now instead you just click "Movies". I don't see where all the tedious work comes in. I'm not trying to be a douche about it at all or anything.

But if clicking a couple extra times is a big deal, just use the drop-bar and the "recent posts" option.

Well, I guess I mean this...Let's say I want to read a few threads. One thread is in Happy Hour, one is in TV/Movies, and one is in Comics/Books. Instead of just clicking on Happy Hour to read all three of those threads, I have to back track to the sub forums to read all of those threads. Maybe it's not more clicks even, it just seems that way

Anyway again, it's really not a big deal, I was just trying to rationalize why Bluefire would ask the question.

Plus, I'm an adamant Barack Obama supporter, how could I not be in favor of change?

Or you can use the drop down menu at the bottom of the screen to quickly jump to the next forum... its how I travel on forums.

Maybe I just liked seeing two forums- video games and everything else. I'm pretty sure GT has done this in the past and these forums never gathered enough posts or people didn't know they existed. Maybe this forum will be different than the last ones.
I prefer talking about movies, TV, books, etc in Happy Hour.. I mean, that's what it's all about. Everything else in life that doesn't involve gaming. I don't see how making 2 extra forums keeps anything tidy, but OK.
And no, I'm not vehemently opposed to this. I'd prefer everything under Happy Hour but this way is fine, too.

I've been coming here for almost 10 years and I'm not going to stop now.

I have to say, that's pretty cool. Considering your relative fame and success.

Any other celebrity in your position would've been gone long ago.

The goal of creating these two new forums is exactly what BaB said - to cut down on "all-encompassing" threads and to create more specific threads.

Let's just give this a chance, and if it doesn't work, we will definitely move back to the old format (which was really a new format, as GT had always had more than two forums).
