Well, before I even begin. It's funny how much Nintendo is covering it's ass with these genre. On the n64, there were very few RPGs and took awhile for a decent one to be released. The GC will see the release of it's first RPG (Unless you count Gauntlet) at the end of the this month if it's not delayed and have a few more scheduled by the end of the year.

Here is a list of RPGs for the Cube from Trevor on the XenGamers forums

Known GameCube RPG's(Open for corrections, and additions):

Unnamed RPG/Brownie Brown(Ex-Sqauresoft employees responsible for Secret of Mana)

Golden Sun GC/Camelot

Giftopia: A Day of E/Skip

Lost Kingdoms/From Software

Virtua Fighter Quest/AM2-Sega

Gothic/Xicat Interactive

Evolution Worlds/Ubi Soft

New RPG Series Unnamed/Namco(MonolithSoft. The developers behind XenoSaga)

Tales of Phantasia/Namco

Gold Star Mountain/From Software

Times of Trouble RPG/4X Studio

RPG Unnamed/Super Happy Fun(Ex-Retro staff)

Pokemon GC/Nintendo

Unknown(Rumored to be of the Final Fantasy series) RPG/Squaresoft(Through affiliate Game Designers Studio)

Mage/BAM! Entertainment

Legend of Zelda GC/Nintendo

Harvest Moon RPG/Natsume

The Hobbit/Inevitable Entertainment

Gauntlet: Dark Legacy/Midway

Too Human/Silicon Knights

Lord of The Rings/EA

Baldur's Gate: Dark Alliance/Interplay

Darkened Skye/Merscom

Legend of the River King 128/Natsume

Skies of Arcadia/Overworks-Sega

Phantasy Star Online 1 & 2/Sonic Team-Sega

Kameo: Elements of Power/Rareware

Gladius/Lucas Arts

Seems like the Cube will atleast have decent support in these department.

Anyhow on to the news, the first if on SKip's RPG.

Skip LTD's website has updated with an E3 countdown and some new info on their GameCube RPG.

The game is called Giftopia - A Day of E and it's about homicide, mystery, betrayal and suspense. It will will be revealed at E3 and is scheduled for late 2002, the publisher is Nintendo.

The company's headed by Ken-ichi Nishi, who worked on Chrono Trigger and Mario.

Interesting I guess. Seems like Nintendo is willing to do a lot to get games. Maybe, it will be good. Thanks to Max M on XenGamers

Now the second tidbit os on the 2nd Namco RPG. It has been discovered that the team responsible for Xenagears and Xenasaga will be handling development of these game. So they have a decent track record thus far.

Today, we heard some interesting news during a routine visit to Namco's San Jose office. Remember the "untitled Gamecube-exclusive RPG" slated for release in December 2003 that was announced last week? Well, it's being handled by MonolithSoft, the ex-Square team behind Namco's upcoming PS2 epic Xenosaga.

We immediately began quizzing our Namco pals for more info, but they weren't sharing. Speculation soon ran rampant through our overactive imaginations. Since we don't expect MonolithSoft to move the multi-chapter Xenosaga series to a different platform, we assume that this GC title will be an all-new RPG. Could it be a soul-searching treatise on comparative religion starring Ms. Pac-Man? Might it be a revamped version of Namco's classic Valkyrie action/RPG? We'll let you know as soon as we find out more.

Well since this is about Cube RPGs, might as well add the latest pics of Darkened Skye.

This is great news, the one which catches my eye most however is:

Unnamed RPG/Brownie Brown(Ex-Sqauresoft employees responsible for Secret of Mana)

Lets hope its a disc with a re-release of Secret Of Mana and the fully translated and long called for Seiken Densetsu 3 (Secret Of Mana 2) that would be great. :burger:

Its probably something totally original though....... or both :sneaky:

Remember, this isn't Squaresoft, so that's not very likely. Btw, isn't Brownie Brown also making Magical Vacation, or something like that?

Do you even know what gauntlet is? Fusion Frenzy is like a puzzle type of game right? Gauntlet is an action/RPG... similar to the way Diablo or baldur's gate Dark Alliance is an action/RPG...

Zelda (which is on that list), however, is not an RPG... :p

Yeah...

Gauntlet is a PARTY GAME with shallow character/RPG elements. You play it with a couple friends and couple beers and hack some crap up. Lets not blow the game out of purportion and even bring it anywhere NEAR Diablo.

Fact of the matter is though, that it is an RPG in one way or another :p.
Just because it's utter crap, doesn't mean it can't be an RPG :D.
