It was a fun ride while it lasted, we were able to eliminate 3 of them before my departure. Just remember guys to hold strong, there is only one left in our midst, and I am certain I have formed a rock steady alliance.
While the captain and Lord Commander are gone, there have already been back-up plans in place.

I found out what happened to uber_paddler:
Prince Uber was nicknamed “the Paddler”, because of a wild water adventure when he was still a young kid. As a seven year old, he had escaped the attention of his tutors and had gone to the river. On a small raft he had paddled through the town's canals. Everybody had come out to watch.
It had been a running joke ever since, and he had kept a nice nickname from the story.
But none of that seemed to matter now. Ever since his fiancé had died, the prince had been struggling to keep his head clear. True, it was an arranged marriage and he barely knew his bride, but he had looked forward to it anyway. She was pretty, and supposedly intelligent too. And now she was gone, because of this big conspiracy that he didn't want anything to do with. His parents had enemies, he had not. It made him so angry. He was supposed to have been married now, but here he was, locked up in his own castle. People were even suspecting him! As if he would kill his own wife. Admittedly, the thought, that had been done before.
He walked through the corridors, going for the latrine to empty his bowels. He was dead tired and he needed some time alone. He picked a nice spot near the window and squatted above the hole. The cold air came in and stroke his four cheeks. It was refreshing, but it also made him realize how tired he really was. He hadn't slept in 3 days. He decided to close his eyes, just for a few seconds...
“My Lord! My Lord! I bear disturbing news! Your son, he fell from the latrine's room. He hit one of the rocks in the canal. I saw him fall with my own eyes, and I sent guards to find him. He... he is dead, my lord.”
Queen Kitana, eyes still red from the last casualty, burst out into a hysterical sobbing. King Neo did not say a word. He just turned around and went into his room.

At the end of the narration, it says voting ends for this round "Friday, December 27th." Today is Friday, but it's the 26th. I almost forgot to vote today because I thought I had until tomorrow. We might want to give people a break if they miss today...That said.

That's really random considering I've voted against the mafia the past 2 rounds. That's not true. In one round you didn't vote at all. In one, you changed your vote 40 minutes before the end (when Jason's fate was already sealed). In the last round, you went for Jeepnut after he already had 4 votes.
But you know what, maybe we'll look into it. It looks like we have another day anyway.

Nice edit. It did say the last THREE rounds. But as Angrist said, you didn't vote at all in the second round. And in the third round you did vote for Mafia, but not until 40 minutes before the deadline when the vote was already decided.

So? Not everyone can have the first vote in.
I personally think that it's a silly theory.
If I was Mafia, I would have thought of clever ways to try divert attention away from them, not try get them out of the game. That's just a bad strategy.
Personally, this sucks.
I haven't felt I've been suspicious at all.
Edit: TML, the 3 was a typo. You see, the 2 and 3 are right next to eachother on the keyboard. It was a mistake.
Secondly, yes, I did vote for him late on in that round, because that was the only time I could get to the computer, and I felt like giving to the cause.
Also, considering I voted for Mafia early on in any round, wouldn't that sort of make you think that I'm not mafia anyways.

Again, this is not true. If you want to talk yourself out of this, get your facts straight.
You did not vote for mafia in round 1 and 2.
As for: If I was Mafia, I would have thought of clever ways to try divert attention away from them, not try get them out of the game. That's just a bad strategy. It can actuallly be a very clever strategy. If you see your team mate will die, and you don't think you can save him, go with the group just to gain their trust. So afterwards you can say "I voted for mafia, I can't be bad!"
Who ever the real mafia is, he's using this trick.

Angrist, I never said I voted for mafia in rounds 1 and 2.
I said I voted for mafia early on in a round. I forget which round. I didn't mean early on in the entire game, I meant early on in a specific round.
While we sit here and point fingers at eachother, whoever the real mafia-person is is just sitting back and not causing a scene or drawing attention to himself, letting us take eachother out one by one.
I can assure you I'm not mafia, but that won't do any good.

Well, fellas.
The game is over.
Typhoid was the last mafia.
But before he died, he murdered Angrist.
I have a horrible feeling that the mafia was rooted out due to BreakABone's demanding people tell them their role PM.
This would make me sad for two reasons.
1. I failed to make a failsafe to prevent that strategy.
2. That strategy really isn't in the spirit of the game.
Hopefully the villagers were just really on the ball this game.
Anyways!
CONGRATULATIONS!
This is now the end game thread.
Damnit Sean, I knew I couldn't trust you. Hahahah.
P.S. I was the Seer. Take that, mariolover!
BreakABone had nothing to do with my Seer results - I gradually got more people knowing what was up, like a good Seer should do. I'm glad I found out manasecret right away.

Nice going. Ehm, my dying scene goes like this:
As the sellsword Angrist fell on the ground with the dart between his ribs, a grin came to his face. That grin just said one thing: "Hah, I was right."
So BaB discovered who the Vigilante was, using that dirty trick? That is pretty lame...
Like Dyne said, we did pretty good without BaB.

What the hell are you talking about? Bond told me he was the vigilante.. no dirty tricks involved. Same deal with Vamp who told me he was Guardian... I didn't ask either one of them to show me there PM.
What the hell is this about anyone...
I simply used a keyword system, and wanted to see if anyone would use the word plain ole to describe themselves. No one... unless misunderstood my message was asked to screencap or copy/paste or anything else their PM.
BaB, myself, Dyne, and others formed an alliance based on trust. No screen capping was used. It just so happened I was the vigilante and Dyne was the seer, more luck than anything else.
I think the issue is that if the good guys are able to build a large alliance early on in the game, with good outside forum communication, it's hard to beat.
Perhaps the fail safe here is to prohibit communication outside of GT.

I think the game definitely needs some tweaking.
It seems the whole outcome is purely based on people's suspicions and how people are perceived.
Maybe that's the point?
But it was more fun pretending to be a bad guy for one round and getting voted out than it would have been spending each round making a case for why I'm good and shouldn't be voted out.

Why did Bond and Vamp trust you anyway? What if you were mafia, then it would have been game over for the villagers. I know I never fully trusted you... At one point me and Thatmariolover were even pretty sure you and Bond were mafia.
Teuthida
12-27-2008, 04:12 PM
I suppose giving everyone a more unique PM or having more special abilities than the three would have stopped the keyword system. But yeah, BAB never demanded...just prompted I should say.
And I entered the circle of trust right when it ended...ah well.
Why did Bond and Vamp trust you anyway?
Because the rewards outweigh the risks. The only way for the good guys to win is to form a large enough alliance first that has a voting majority, and the players with powers. If this can't be done, the good guys will lose.
thatmariolover
12-27-2008, 04:27 PM
Eh. I definitely didn't enjoy it as much as I usually do. Namely because I wasn't trusted by BaB, and Dyne never looked at me to confirm. So it's not like it was something that could be avoided easily. But it's hard not to feel resentful when I really wasn't allowed to participate, even if it was for a good reason.

Oh Snap!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
BaB and I formed a trust by making a pact. If one of us turned out to be mafia, that person would have had to do vodka shots through the nose. After Babs dies, Dyne used his powers to confirm.
Angrist
12-27-2008, 04:35 PM
Btw I was actually honored that Typhoid killed me in the end. :D Dyne couldn't take the lead on this one, because he would probably reveal his role.
I thought it was a fun game, but I missed the classical speculation. This was just a matter of voting off people without any explanation.

That's usually the problem with the good guys.
The bad guys start the game organized, they know who they can trust. Good guys have to point fingers while the baddies create misdirection

I tried to explain this on AIM, but it isn't anything personal. The seer can only Seer 1 person a round, and it shouldn't be all wasted on finding people to ally with.
With his first Seer, Dyne found Manasecret, which allowed us to gain an early advantage. With the rest of his Seer, he found no Mafia, but formed an alliance that would have the majority vote if it came down to that.
The good thing about Dyne not influencing others was that he, much like myself, trusted Typhoid.
Lucky enough for the good guys, Typhoid and I guess Jeepnut, decided to kill me off so I could no longer protect him from suspicion. :p

Oh thank God I can stop the rhyming.
I enjoyed the game and was actually surprised that none of the attempts to accuse me didn't take, especially since I'm an outsider to the group in general. I'm not sure if that was BaB doing or not, but I agree that he never asked the screen cap. He just asked me if I had a role. I responded by saying I was just a plain ol' villager and he welcomed me into the fold. Which is within the rules, I believe.
And TML, I always trusted you. Based solely on how you voted and how the mafia who were killed voted, I knew you had to be one of the good guys.

And I likewise explained that it doesn't really matter. I didn't take it personally, I'm just disappointed that I didn't get to participate. You guys obviously didn't do anything wrong.
I think you just have a hard time seeing from my viewpoint because you were in on everything and made an executive decision to leave people out until they were trusted. Which is neat, it helped you win. But that tactic alienates people and ultimately kills the fun unless you're in on it. I've never felt Mafia was about winning, it's about playing.

Just happened to come across this manga (http://www.onemanga.com/Doubt/) in which a group of people play a game of Mafia.
There's a game going around Japan called 'Rabbit Doubt'. The premise of the game is that all of the players are rabbits in a colony, and one amongst them is randomly chosen to be a wolf that infiltrated the group of rabbits. Every round, the wolf kills off a rabbit, and every round, the group tries to figure out which of the rabbits is actually a wolf in disguise. Sometimes the kids who play this game decide to meet up in person, and Yuu, Mitsuki, Rei, Hajime, Eiji, and Haruka have done just that. Unfortunately, one of them has decided to take on the mantle of the wolf and has already killed once. Who is the wolf, and can they be stopped before everyone meets a very unpleasant end?
