This is, of course, traditionally the time of year in which GameTavern is very slow due to school, work, and such. Just wanted to check in and see how everyone is doing with this and that?

I think most people here pretty much know I hate my current job, which in turn makes me a more negative person.

As a few know, also working on going back to school next year and hopefully complete this long journey.

I'm working on an essay at the moment. As soon as I finish it, I'm writing my MSc thesis proposal, which is due on December 11.

It's just that I'm a bit illish today. Two nights ago I suddenly got very nautious, it was scary. Lying down only made it worse, as if I was in a carousel which kept going harder and harder.
I e-mailed my physician about it, waiting for a reply.

Anyways, next week I got 4 more assignments due, two math tests, and then we have a presentation and turn-in on the first playable builds of our games. Then it's finals week, and this semester finally will end.

I'm hoping to grab a blackberry today, then buckling down and getting ready for finals, plus two papers due tuesday.

A few weeks ago I decided to pick up an African American Studies minor along with my History Major, so thats what next quarter has in store, plus a Entertainment Business class that I'm TA'ing for with Peter Guber as the lecturer. It's lining up to be amazing (Chad Hurley and Will Wright are both set to be guest lecturers).

Also, I woke up this morning feeling a slightly bit tristful. It's always around this time of year that I feel like I want a girlfriend, then I end up getting one and break up with them within a month or two...But I don't wanna mess around anymore!...ah well

And today is just one of those days, my body can no longer go on. Physically exhausted. Worked 6 days this week. Including a holiday. Spent 2 days in the hospital with my residents. Working on 3 hours of sleep for the past 3 days due to work schedule.

I've been more or less on tour since mid-September with only a few days back at home. We go back out through the North East/ New England from December 3rd - 13th hitting some smaller cities. After that I'm home for Christmas and New Years with not much to do in January. I'd like to pick up a part-time job or something, but I'm not sure what I could find for just a 1.5 months.

Contract is ending at Propaganda soon, on December 19th. I've learnt a metric fuckton of game programming. I'm really happy I landed this Coop. I'm a lot more confident in my abilities now. I've thought tandemly about working while at school. I've sent my application off to Rockstar but I haven't sent to anyone else. Propaganda straight up told me they had to put a hold on hiring because of the whole economical bullshit thing. I'm willing to bet every other studio is like that right now. Oh well! Maybe if I put effort into school next semester I'll enjoy it. >_>

ah, don't worry about it, bud. it's not stupid... it affects us all. it hits us all at some point or another. but as it turns out, all the cliches are true: there are lots of girls out there, the things that seem important now are completely forgotten in a couple of years, etc.

but i realize that you've heard those things a million times and they don't mean much right now, so what I will say is that no matter what happens, just be honest about the whole thing, don't overthink it, and have fun with it all. if you're not enjoying it, then why bother with it?

and if you need any advice or need to talk to anyone, i'm pretty sure BreakABone is the ladies man around here. Right?

"One day Solomon decided to humble Benaiah Ben Yehoyada, his most trusted minister. He said to him, "Benaiah, there is a certain ring that I want you to bring to me. I wish to wear it for Sukkot which gives you six months to find it." "If it exists anywhere on earth, your majesty," replied Benaiah, "I will find it and bring it to you, but what makes the ring so special?" "It has magic powers," answered the king. "If a happy man looks at it, he becomes sad, and if a sad man looks at it, he becomes happy." Solomon knew that no such ring existed in the world, but he wished to give his minister a little taste of humility. Spring passed and then summer, and still Benaiah had no idea where he could find the ring. On the night before Sukkot, he decided to take a walk in one of the poorest quarters of Jerusalem. He passed by a merchant who had begun to set out the day's wares on a shabby carpet. "Have you by any chance heard of a magic ring that makes the happy wearer forget his joy and the broken-hearted wearer forget his sorrows?" asked Benaiah. He watched the grandfather take a plain gold ring from his carpet and engrave something on it. When Benaiah read the words on the ring, his face broke out in a wide smile. That night the entire city welcomed in the holiday of Sukkot with great festivity. "Well, my friend," said Solomon, "have you found what I sent you after?" All the ministers laughed and Solomon himself smiled. To everyone's surprise, Benaiah held up a small gold ring and declared, "Here it is, your majesty!" As soon as Solomon read the inscription, the smile vanished from his face. The jeweler had written three Hebrew letters on the gold band: _gimel, zayin, yud_, which began the words "_Gam zeh ya'avor_" -- "This too shall pass." At that moment Solomon realized that all his wisdom and fabulous wealth and tremendous power were but fleeting things, for one day he would be nothing but dust."

Because passing the class means you should understand a majority of the material that was taught to you. If at a moment's notice you can't stop what you're doing and pass a test, I'd say you don't really know the material that well.

I don't like that idea one bit, but it makes sense.

i was pretty surprised today.
i was late to my english class and i thought i was going to get a nice chewing out by my teacher, but instead she opened the door and let me in and said she had something for me.

about a month ago, my class had to write an impromptu on the book Metamorphosis by Franz Kafa and the topic/question was: What is Kafka telling us about isolation in the modern world?

and i myself, going into this was quite freaked out because i barely read the story, and i had no idea how much it'd be weighed on my grade.

but today was a nice surprise, she handed me by paper back and i had recieved an A on it. i didn't think it was going to be that good, and i'm not good at impromptu's, but it was a nice change of pace.

the paper itself was weighed 70% of our grade, so it helped me out bigtime.
picked my spirits up quite a bit as well.

But I'm very happy with the result. I'm going for an 8 or a 9 (although I'll be content with a 7 or even a 6).

So for the show I played it turns out it was a battle of the bands kind of thing. Top 3 bands get into the finals at a bigger venues and get a chance to win some recording time.

As well there is a wildcard vote to get into the finals so I figured I might as well whore us off to my closest internet friends.

So the link is up there, bands name is Leaf Eye and you need to sign up but it is quite easy. You can vote once a day and yeah.

I attended New York Comic Con today. I had won an iTunes logo designing contest so rather than have the podcaster ship me my prize (Showcase Flash books) I said I would meet him at Comic Con and I also agreed to help man the table of the comic I just finished.

Upon arriving I met the mother of the writer of the comic I worked on. Said there was too much cursing in the comic but explained it wasn't my fault. Then I manned the table and I sat and sat and sat.

Talked a little with my neighbor, the artist of the book Grounded, and soon to be artist on Punisher Noir for Marvel. Nice guy. And then I sat some more.

Twice different girls walked by and told me to cheer up and smile. I guess I was looking mopey.

I caught the podcaster in my field of vision and tried to make him come over to my table through mind power alone. I was watching over another table other than my own so I felt weird about leaving. He was escaping though so I made a mad dash and handed him the original drawing, received two huge books, got our picture taken by a guy from iFanboy.com (said was going to put on their blog...I fear that), and then headed back to the table to sit until the con ended for the day.

I realized my neutral face can look pretty angry. I try to smile a bit more since then.

A week ago I had this weird thing... I cycled home from university and every girl that I met on bike, would smile at me. After the 5th I started to wonder if I had something in my face. I still don't know what that was for. I'm not complaining.

Does your bike look really cool? Or maybe you just looked sexy while riding it.

I know that when I ride my bike everyone looks at me, but that's because I have a racing bike and I'm clothed in spandex, so it's more of a situation where you don't see that everyday.

Maybe he was naked.

Have you ever noticed that it is like ten times more weird to see a naked person on a bike or rollerblading than if they were walking.

Haha, yeah. Maybe it's just strange to see someone doing a biking or rollerblading motion while naked, because it's not something we would ever generally imagine a naked person to do. And it's normal for someone naked to walk, so it's not very strange.

Hm I don't remember being naked...

Maybe it was my coat+hood. But I've been wearing that for years. Oh well, never mind.
