All I've seen on this movie is stories on the news about lines after lines of 14-year-old girls going to meet the actors and go to prescreenings and stuff.

I think this movie would be right up birdman's alley.

Some female was talking about going to a midnight showing by herself...bleh, any movie a girl is willing to see by herself is way too girly for me...

Was good. Would see again.

First 1/3 had a lot of cheesy moments (I liked them though, 'cause I liked the book), but the last 2/3's was perfect.

Only complaint was that it couldn't have been longer to incorporate all the characters a little more. Did a great job making all the vampires look cool.

Fangirls of all ages scored their biggest box office victory yet as Summit Entertainment's teen vampire romance "Twilight" opened to an estimated $70.6 million from 3,419 screens at the domestic box office.

If memory serves me right this is a bigger opening than Quantum of Solace and even Batman Begins.

It just goes to show that movies don't always need to be focused on the 18-35 year old male demographic.

But still DAMN at the movie.

And apparently 75% of the movie going audience was females. The other 25% was Vamp and boyfriends dragged along to see the movie with their girlfriends. :p

i saw the movie last night, and let me just add, that as a matter of fact, there were quite a lump-sum of males there, whether they were by themselves or with females.

i thought it was alright, there was definitely some cool elements to it, gives you a odd perspective on the whole vampire genre of movies, but still cool nonetheless.

Just as a side note, I'd like to encourage anyone here who likes vampires or just good TV to check out HBO's True Blood. Season 1 just ended and its a really good show.

It takes place in modern time in a redneck town in Louisiana and the overlying plot is basically the coexistence of vampires and humans in the same society. The Japanese have created an artificial blood for vampires so they don't have to prey on humans anymore and they've marketed it into a drink called True Blood. It runs very parallel to integration of black and white people circa the 1950s. Vampires being the black people. And at the heart of the story is a small-town girl (Anna Paquin of X-Men) and a vampire that fall in love.

Its not sappy though. And it has a cool intro.
