View Full Version : Sunglasses question (Dyne and others!)

So I walked into a store because it said -30% on sunglasses.
The salesman helped me and I ended up trying a nice Ray-Ban. They cost €179, with the discount €125. I do think that's a lot, but I've been told that it's worth it.
They looked really good on me. They have an anti-mirroring coating (or whatever it's called in English). I can't find them online... They don't have the "larger frames, and larger arms" that Dyne suggested, but they still look good. They're neutral enough to stand the changes in fashion.
So now the question is... what do you think? The discount ends after tomorrow, so I'll have to decide fast.

Got no advice really.
If you can afford the glasses nd think they look good on you. go for it.
I do know that Dyne is off to PAX so his internet usage may be limited.

They have an anti-mirroring coating (or whatever it's called in English).
'Polarized' is the word your heart is eagerly searching for, I believe.
Try not to worry about keeping up with fashion. The only things you should consider are:
• Do I like they way they look on me?
• Are they comfortable?
The second one is important because if they're too tight on your ears or the side of your head, it will be really unpleasant wearing them for extended periods of time. Likewise, you don't want a pair of sunglasses that are too loose and will fall right off if you tilt your head down to tie your shoelaces or something

Ah, good point, how do they feel on my head. I think they felt comfy. I'll have to test it tomorrow.
Hm can I afford it... I'm a student, I have to pay back a lot of money. So yes, I can miss the money now and I'll be able to pay it back later.
Still thinking about it.

Ok, what do you think of this? I can probably get the same glasses for €30 ($45) cheaper on ebay or something.
Might be these glasses: http://cgi.ebay.nl/NEW-RAYBAN-gunmetal-greygreenPOLARIZED-m-RB3183-004-9a_W0QQitemZ150286179234QQihZ005QQcategoryZ79732QQrdZ1QQssPageNameZWD1VQQcmdZViewItemQQ_trksidZp1638 Q2em118Q2el1247
Not sure. And the ones I saw weren't this green.
I guess I'll ask the salesman. And I'll need the model number if I'll buy them online.

I got a nice pair of Ray Ban a few months ago. I like them a lot. Mine were prescription though, had all the fancy polarized lenses and such. Cost me 225. But ive always wanted a pair of prescription sunglasses.

Yeah, they look good. But then again, it's so hard to tell from just a picture of the glasses. What looks good/stylish on one person may actually look terrible on someone else. I think those look pretty good, though.

That price seems about right for Ray-Bans. I don't know what they go for typically in Europe, but still.
It comes down to how they feel, and if you see yourself wearing them often enough. If so, get them.
Don't just get them to say you dropped a few hundred on Ray-Bans, but do it because you actually want them

Got them already. ;) And no, I'd never buy something just because it's expensive. I've always wanted to have good and nice sunglasses.
And I'll be wearing them all summers.
