This will be a new format due to some feeling that a single post is too lenghty. This will simply break up a single thread into several posts over time.
This story happens to be broken up in segments to begin with so easy enough to begin with.
School Days Gone
At the table sat Dylflon, Fox, Swan, Typhoid and Dyne, they were all trying their best to enjoy their lunch. However, their minds all wandered on their friend, Combine. It had been a week since he was kidnapped outside of the school. In that week, there had been no leads nor any ransom demands.
While the incident was horrific and took its toll on each member at the table, there was a stark divide in regards to reactions. The senior members wanted to take the law into their own hands to get their friend back. They had begun picking on students who may have seen anything.
Fox and Swan on the other hand felt it best to assist the police with their investigation. Upsetting the balance of the school would not get them their friend back any sooner.
The groups' discussion now always led to an argument on how the others were handling the situation. Typhoid, Dyne and Dylflon all upheld the belief that certain actions demanded reactions far greater than the law would provide.
Swan and Fox argued as much as they could, but realized they were at a disadvantage. Not only were they younger and outnumbered, but Dyne, Dylflon and Typhoid all possesed natural abilites far beyond that of a normal human being. And the gang always made sure to remind them.

I don't know how well this one works.
It was kind of an intro to the rest of this chapter, but will post next section in the morning I hope.

I will work on it until I strike the perfect balance between readability and storytelling.

6 months later, the table that the friends all sat at remained empty. Dyne, Dylflon and Typhoid, or DDT as they had begun calling themselves, were off chasing more leads on the whereabouts of Combine. However, in the past few months, their method of collecting data had grown more dangerous. Each day, reports in the newspaper would show more accidents with no suspects and questionable means.
As long as DDT's hidden skills remained hidden to all but their closest friends, they could manuever around the city without being pinned for any of their actions.
Fox remained at home after his hospital stay. While researching a new test chemical at his internship, Fox was exposed to high levels of a Stay Loose chemicals that would help make things more shapeable for storage. While his exposure caused minimal damage, he seemed to have worsen during his hospital stay. Until the end when his health suddely picked up.
Swan had gone past his breaking point. Between his friend's disappearance, Fox's recent brush with death and DDTs more private nature, his world was coming apart. He started to feel lonely then depressed. In his depression, he began to sign up for a list of experimental procedures and drugs. He used a variety of aliases to gain access to all of these.
During a routine check-up after an experiment, he was informed that his body had lost all of its bones. All the scientists on site were shocked that his body maintained its composure. After running a battery of tests, the scientists determined that Swan would live.
When questioned about the cause of this, Swan could not answer which combination had allowed him this. He confessed to the staff that he had been signing up for experiments and drugs all over the city with various names.
Swan's behavior tailspinned after this even more. His depression reached its fever pitch. This is when Swan decided to ascend a bridge. As he climbed up the bridge, his mind replayed fond moments with his friends and his families. He felt bad about not giving them all a chance to say goodbye but they would just try and talk him out of it.
He reached the top of the bridge and surveyed the area around him. It was a beautiful view from up here. At least, it would be the last thing he saw. He turned towards the water, closed his eyes and took his final leap.
He could feel the wind against his face. The hair behind his head. The water under his body. Wait, something was wrong. He landed on the water but was still alive. How was that possible.
He opened his eyes to find that he was floating on the water.

A month later, and everything seemed to have returned to normal. Swan and Fox were back at school full time, and they once again were joined at the table by DDT. DDT were celebrating it was their final week in school, and they were excited to finally be free of this place.
They have all decided to forego continuing their education and instead go into business for themselves. While the continued to search for Combine's kidnappers, their own business had expanded greatly. They now used their powers for selfish gains.
Fox and Swan always objected to their behavior but were quickly shot down, and being in better spirits they didn't want to ruin a good thing again. They also decided it would be in their own best interest to keep the results of their accident a secret from the DDT from now.
In the past month, both Swan and Fox had spent a great deal of time coming to terms with their new life.
Fox had discovered that his accident changed his basic body composition. He now possesed powers akin to Silly Putty or clay. He first discovered that he could mold his limbs into anything he could think of. It took a while for him to maintain the form, but it was a beginning. Then he accidently discovered that he could change facial features and then body features. With a little bit of practice, he began to experiment with changing his body into that of another person. He found early success but it took a strain on him to maintain it.
Swan after recovering from his depression had found that life without any skeletal structure had some perks. He began with slow experimentation after surviving his plunge and he had quite remarkable results. He found that his body now had an elastic quality about it. He could stretch his limbs over great distances and make funny faces. His most startling breakthrough however came by accident. One day while absentmindedly walking home, he heard someone shout "WATCH OUT!" as a ball came hurtling towards him. He barely had a second to react, but the next thing he knew the ball had went right through him. He looked down to see that his stomach had shifted positions creating a giant hole in the middle of his body. He had the ability to change his basic body structure by moving around parts. He ran home excitedly to test this out some more.
Unknown to Swan, Dyne had seen the whole thing take place and reported the news back to his friends. The next day Swan was confronted, and finally told the truth. Since Swan was coming clean, Fox decided he would as well.
When they thought DDT would snap, they began shaking their hands and congrulating them.
"With some practice and more experience, you two could become part of the time." Dylflon smiled.
Things were looking up.

The final part, I think writing this way makes it easier, but spreading it out over 3 days was a wash. Gonna need to find a nice middle ground.

Fox and Swan were not out of high school and enjoying their first semester at University. The challenge it offered excited them, but they were happy when mid-semester rolled around.
It had been a few months since they last seen their friends. It had been a problem for them to come out and visit; they were always busy. Swan and Fox also found ways to occupy their time. In the almost 18 months since discovering their powers, they had become somewhat like cult heroes.
It had started off simple enough for them. Helping an old lady rescue a cat from a tree or grabbing a little boy out of the street before getting hit by a car. Then it started to rapidly expand over the summer before college. They began catching pickpockets and muggers. And college offered a whole new class of thieves and would-be rapists.
They were exhausted when they finally made it home, but before they could get any rest they received a message from their old friends telling them to meet-up at the old schoolyard in about an hour.
They dropped off their stuff without unpacking. Spent a little time with their family and then they were both out the door. They met up at the corner of the school and went into the yard.
When they entered, the place seemed pretty empty. It was a Saturday so no students were expected there, but still the schoolyard use to be a popular hangout. As they looked around, they heard a voice shout out "HELP! HELP!"
They sprung into action as they began to search around for the source of the screams. They pinpointed it to the east and rushed over. They reached the point and stopped short of their destination. There up in the tree was Dylflon dying with laughter.
"Oh the look on your faces right now." He started.
"It's good to know that the Dashing Daring Doubles are here to save the day!" Dyne said revealing himself.
Typhoid couldn't speak as he was too busy laughing at his pals.
"Ha. Ha. Real funny guys. I'm dying over here." Fox faked laughter.
"What is up friendos?"
"Not much. It has been some time since we've seen you two. We figured we get together like old times. " Dyne answered.
"That and we have been following you boys exploits up at your school. We have to say some truly terrific work." Typhoid gave them a sarcastic two thumbs up.
"But in all seriousness, we have been impressed," Dylfon stated, "and we think it is time you join up with the Coalition."
Fox became excited at the news, "Really? You guys think we are ready?"
Swan however was stuck on the last part, "The Coalition?"
"We would never kid about membership." Dyne replied.
"As for the name," Typhoid started to explain, "we felt it was needed. It is short for The Canadian Coalition. Imagine 5 of Canada's greatest citizens banded together. No one or no thing could stand in our way. We could bring law and order the way we see fit."
"Friendos, this does not sound like the program Fox and I want to join. You can't be serious."
"We are deadly serious!" Dylflon cut in with anger in his voice. "We will give you boys one chance to accept our offer. What is it going to be?"
"Then the answer is no," Fox spoke up, "we will offer our services to those in need. We will not use our powers to control people!" Swan shook his head in agreement.
"I'm sorry you feel that way." Dyne tried to comfort them.
"But it wasn't unexpected." Dylflon added.
Before they could respond, Typhoid was on them. Pounding them from every direction. They could barely make out where the blows were coming from, but by the time they were clear it was too late. They passed out on the floor in pain.
To add insult to injury, Dyne threw water on them to revive them. Then Dyne, Dylflon and Typhoid walked over to their fallen comrades.
"Only after some misguided loyalty to our former friends are we sparing your lives, but if we ever cross paths again. Make no mistake about it. We will kill you!" Dylflon spat on his former friends.
The Coalition walked off into the sunset laughing while Fox and Swan laid on the floor writhing in pain.
