What a piece of crap! I knew it was a bad idea to buy a football game but some of my friends talked me into it. Man, this game is [U]BUGGY![U] With EA holding all the cards it must not matter if the game is playable or not.

I'd really like it if you sent it to me :)

dude, you're way off. the last couple next gen offers were disappointing, but this year EA has turned a corner. the gameplay is way deeper, the graphics are slicker, and it just feels a lot smoother.

Maybe im just not into the whole madden thing. I didnt like it and now im stuck with a 89.99 dollar game(and no i will not give it to you). For the money I couldve had another copy of GTA4 and got a safety deposit box full of fun thing, not a 16 bit football game.

I personally am still in mourning of the 2K series. I just can't get into Madden like I did the 2K series. It's not as realistic. The way you choose your plays isn't accurate. The play displays is very vague and the controls don't match up. Graphically, 2K was always ahead of EA as well.

But EA is evil so what are you going to do?

89.99.

What? Are you serious?

1: You can't be serious about 2K graphics being better than EA graphics. That's what EA is known for, is outstanding graphics. And the 2K series was known for good simulation. They don't even compare.

2: 90 bucks? Who the hell did you buy the game from?

90 is the collectors edition, comes in the big black box, looks cool, dunno what it does special though.

60 is the normal version

My brother is more of the one who plays the sports games, and he's a much bigger fan of the NCAA series. He's been displeased with Madden since 07, and even not playing the game I can see why. It just doesn't feel or look like it was as much fun as they used to be, when Madden was one of the more definitive football franchises.

The 2K games on the Dreamcast were hands-down my favorites though.

The collectors’ edition includes head coach and madden 96. And I totally agree that 2K is the better franchise, that’s why EA couldn’t let them make any more license football games. 2K5 had the better graphics, game play and was only 20 bucks!! EA is a power house that wants to buy up all the other companies so they can force you into buying what ever crap they put out.

I think EA is a pretty evil company, but it is partially the gamer's fault for continuing to pay for their crappy games. I for one cannot think of a single game/genre where EA has taken the top tier. EA's development team especially sucks; when they publish titles they occasionally turn out a good game.

And you can't return the game? Where did you buy it from?

What do people not understand about the fact that the NFL chose to sell the exclusive rights to their brand? They wanted the money, they chose to do it, EA was able to outbid their competitor.

NHL 08 was the best 3D hockey game I've ever played.

yes and no... for all it had it was the best.. but it was broke in the same move scored every time on like 5 different ways which i found out like the first week of playing... never touched it again which sucks because i loved how it worked.

07, not as good in the realistic sense, was able to play it for a good year without any of those goal every time things happening.

which i know is not really your point. but i just have such high hopes that 09 fixes my issues with 08. :)

Ah, I think I get it. It had random ways of making you score, even though you did the same thing?

Null

no. you skate thro middle and shoot opposite direction it scored every time.

you skate along the goal line up towards the net and stop right when you hit the crease and quickly shoot, and he scored every time.

and a few others like that.

basically i can score whenever i please. and sure you can say just dont use those ways, but i cant do that... i cant just not score when i know i can to prevent something that the game should prevent on its own.

so it broke the game for me.

See I don't have that problem...if I'm playing with a friend of mine, we don't use cheap goal tactics. We're able to just not do certain things. We shouldn't have to, but the game still was the most realistic representation of hockey I've ever seen.

Oh, and the more I play of Madden 09 the more I appreciate the improvements that were made. Momentum plays a much larger role, you can break out of tackles after a player wraps you up, the running game is difficult but rewards actual skills like patience and vision. It just feels and looks very good. 8.5/10 thus far...

oh is easily the most realistic, i loved that. the computer actually sets up and gets in positions for power plays, so you can play a passing game, they do all those things right

now if the goal that went in was some stupid thing you'd never normally do, a type of glitch, where say you go behind the net and fire, and it magically counts.. i wouldnt ever need to do that and it wouldnt bother me.

but if im playing a competitive game with my friend, and all you have to do to score is skate down middle and fire in opposite direction of where your skating, thats one of my normal shots, just wouldnt be competitive if i avoid all the ways i know how to score and try something stupid just to make the game get a more realistic outcome. i cant see the point in playing at all then.

i absolutly loved the game though, i'll be getting NHL 09 on day 1.

I think NFL 2K games were pretty awful, I never got what perople saw in them. I didn't find the game to be more realistic then the Madden games that were out at the same time, the user interface wasn't as good, nor was play selection. The franchise mode sucked and got extremely buggy in the long run...

I forced myself to get into it for 2 years just to try and see what people saw in it, honestly now, I don't miss the series whatsoever. The only reason I'd like it now is because the 360/Ps3 era madden games have sucked so far (until this year). Competition probably owuld have made EA work harder on their product. But in the Ps2/DC era, no contest, I think madden was all around better.

As for people calling EA evil for taking the NFL licence, they're just doing what they have to do to make money. Just like M$ and Nintendo do. If it takes buying out big licences/developers and ruining them, or just shooting out a bunch of cheap games to make money... They're all gonna do it.

Well, yes, that's a business strategy, and I don't think they're evil because they buy companies/licenses. They're evil because they don't put all the effort they could into their games.
