We already have a thread for raves, may as well have ones for things that piss you off.
As some of you know, I have/had plans to visit the PoConnection sometime in August, but due to my own poor planning, I have pushed it back or whatever. Now here is the kicker, I had requested the time off for this anyhow about a month ago and my boss FINALLY gets back to me saying I couldn't have it off. So even if I did plan it, I would have been screwed over big time anyhow.
Anyhow, I am done with this place at the end of August and shall most likely schedule my trip for then.

I feel bad this has no posts.
My big pisoff at the moment is that I got a concussion at work yesterday.
No fun.
I thought my name was Wednesday for half an hour.

Well, I figured this was dead in the water.
But might as well rant about my job though most of you know the story anyhow.
I got suspended from my job for a day due to allegedly calling a resident a "fat ass." There was an investigation done and two of the girls claim to have overheard me calling the 3rd it. I am curious how they expect me to work with them after this, but we shall see.
It was a stupid thing I did I will admit, but the fact that there had to be an investigation done or whatever was just a pain in the ass. Three days before I was to pass prohibition as well. Not really sure the aftermath as I haven't been to work since Monday.
~Edit~
How did you get the concussion? Someting fall on you?

Rant of the moment is a friend who changed what she said to me but rather then argue with her, I'm just going to replace it and never speak to her again. She gave me a carrier because she said she didn't need it since the dog was too big for it now.
So I use it to give my cat to someone (life changing too much now for me to keep her unfortunately :( ), then a few days ago asked if I still had it. I said no because you said that the dog was too big for it and didn't need it. She denies that and says she hasn't even told her mom.
So rather then argue with the fucking bitch, I'm just going to replace it next check, and never speak to her again. She's always being a total bitch to my friend (her boyfriend), she wants to be the center of attention, ESPECIALLY if he hangs out with us and she isn't there (which she doesn't like ot anyways).
So anyone he comes over on our days of visiting/hanging out, she will keep texting him, calling him. If he ignores her, she starts texting me! Making it a sob story for her that he is ignoring her and its like the end of the world because she can't be in contact with him for a couple of ours OUT OF THE ENTIRE WEEK that they talk.
Argh...I wish I never knew her but alas, we live and learn.

I'm amazed that the American public seems the least bit concerned that the focal point for Obama's campaigning right now is in other parts of the world. Apparently he has won the hearts of Germans...they even had some Europeans being interviewed on the radio today. What this has to do with America is beyond me. Also, it sounds like Obama wants to go to Afghanistan and catch those bastard terrorists that blew up our World Trade Center....you know, the ones that blew up our Trade Center because they were pissed that we were in Afghanistan.
Whateva, I figured by now Professor S would have made a topic about this.

I got the concussion at work, because I work doing metal fab. And right above the sheer is the loaded metal rack, which happens to have supports going across about 4 feet off the ground, so as I bent down to pick up some strips of metal, I was in farther than usual, and didn't realize it, backed up and stood up as if it wasn't there, and hit the soft spot on the back of my head. Then I woke up 30 seconds later claiming my name was Wednesday.

Now I'm jeaulous! I know it doesn't mean much. Probably nothing. And I'm trying to be reasonable here, but it justs changes my point of view a bit.

As of Saturday, I weighed in at 172 and had just completed 6 days of exercise, running 43 miles for the week.
Today I step back on the scale and it says 177. WTF. I know that weight fluctuates a lot, but it was discouraging. After I worked out today it was back at 174, but it's kind of confusing, I don't really know how much I weigh.
Were you using the same scale?
The Germanator
07-28-2008, 08:23 PM
Yeah, I always use the same YMCA scale.
My weight fluctuates by 5 pounds all the time. Although I'm also not overweight or trying to lose weight.
That being said, I wouldn't worry about it and would only weigh yourself every week.
Vampyr - I closed the thread because it was descending into personal attacks.

Yeah, I've heard you should only weigh yourself once a week, but I get mildly obsessed with it. It usually doesn't encourage or discourage me either way though and I continue with my routine, so I don't necessarily see the harm. I've also read a few weight-loss testimonials that say it's fine to weigh yourself often as long as you don't get too sidetracked by it. That's been my strategy, and I've been encouraged more than not, but yeah, just a rant..

You should always do it first thing in the morning - that's usually the lowest point in the day. If not, you should always weigh yourself at the same time of day and stick with it for consistency. :)
In the end, weight doesn't matter, it all matters about how you feel and how lean you are.
Jonbo298
07-29-2008, 12:37 AM
Yep, morning is ideal to weigh yourself. Depending on what you eat during the day and how much liquids you intake, body weight can fluctuate alot by the time you're ready for bed. Morning gives a better idea as you haven't had anything in you for an extended period so body has time to "mediate" itself.
I admit too that I weigh myself more often then need be, but its only because I know what to expect within a range of what I had the day before, and also sets the tone for how much I should work out myself. Though I'm not using it as my only metric because I have alot more muscle mass then I did a year ago.

At one point I thought I had suddenly gained 3kgs. But it was just our new scale.
Sometimes I weigh myself with clothes, shoes, keys, etc. on. I think it's between a 1 and 2 kgs difference.

Joking aside, though. My biggest rant is that, to an extent, the Nintendo haters were right this time around. Nintendo screwed up, the Wii was an colossal mistake and a massive step backwards. I really had high hopes for it, but as far as I'm concerned the Wii was an epic fail in every way except sales. The price point is way too high, and they're not going to lower the price because people are still buying the system because some shovelware caught their eye. There's is nothing original that the Wii offers except for a controller and a few gems by Nintendo and a couple third parties. There's no justifiable reason for the way they dumbed the system down from a technical standpoint. But what's even worse is that developers (Nintendo included) still aren't even taking advantage of the graphical horsepower available. The Wii is literally two or three times more powerful than the Gamecube, and yet we're still dealing with graphic that would have been mediocre at best for Gamecube.
There's just no excuse.

Is it all that surprising?
-No third party
-Bunch of gimmicky titles
-Average first party titles; wasn't Mario Sunshine the only innovation thus far?
-Worst online service ever
-lack expandable memory
-No exclusive Zelda title on the Wii...the current Nintendo trend is release a Zelda game right at the end of the console's life...pretty lame if you ask me
I can't believe that some Wii users actually delete games they paid for in the virtual arcade to install new ones because they ran out of space. I know you can download the game you bought as many times as you want, but with memory being as cheap as it is these days I find that rather unbelievable. As a PC gamer...or even as someone who owned the original Xbox...I find that unacceptable.
In my opinion Nintendo has really lowered the bar for the serious gamers this generation. The N64 had a bunch of wonderful, lengthy, in-depth single player games. The Gamecube had a pretty good number of wonderful, lengthy, in-depth single player games. The Wii has Mario Sunshine. And Zelda, only Zelda isn't Wii-exclusive and I personally prefer playing it with a controller. On the Gamecube. And Twilight Princess wasn't even that amazing...it pales in comparison to Ocarina, Majora's, and dare I say Wind Waker.
Personally, I think all three consoles have had their fair share of disappointments this generation.
I just wonder...where does Nintendo go from here. More gyros and motion-sensor stuff? That seems to be the buzz...body suits? Another console where they can make money off of 15 unnecessary 3rd party peripherals?

Anyhow let's see how much I write before I get bored.
Basically, day started off bad.. well the week actually. there were a ton of events leading up to the day, but only in hindsight could you tell. Basically, one resident found out another had a gun about a month ago didn't tell no one because he felt threatened (flawless logic :lolz: ) and then the resident ran away or whatever. So he came back yesterday and the resident who knew he had the gun had spent two nights in his room because of problems with other residents.
So when he comes back, he finds stuff missing out his room and goes to confront the other kid. words were exchanged one tried to attack the other. Police were called in. Resident then informed staff other kid had gun and he didn't feel safe. Huge ordeal with the cops took like an hour. They had to tackle the one kid, gave him a broken nose.
At this point, I got stuck with 8 residents by myself which was not fun, but eh.
So some of the other residents and even staff now resented the one kid (not using names or false identities for reasons) so things were boiling up. We were already severely understaffed and overstretched. So finally things came to a boil when two residents went at it. Fistcuffs and all that fun jazz. And other residents pulled him off to take turns hitting him.
So yeah stuff and stuff, but had to take him to the hosp for wounds and to be evaluated. 7th fight this month. And being just half over yeah.
He was admitted to a psych ward this morning.

I was just reminded of the best part of my hospital visit.
So I have to stay with the resident while he is in the room or whatever. He is resting and whatever so he somehow ends up telling me he is "hard downtown" and he will "close the curtain" to do the deed. I tell him no. And he keeps asking. Finally, he goes to bed.

I don't get SSX3. I recently bought it cheap for the Cube. I just want to race, but it won't let me. It took me some hours to discover that I have to board around, looking for stuff to do... And some stuff will let me unlock more courses...
Also, I think the gameplay isn't half as good as in 1080° Avalanche. I keep bumping into stuff and even when I recover by button-mashing B, I still lose my speed. I can't figure out if holding A (jump) makes me go faster.
One thing that put a smile on my face is that it also has the song Good Times from Finger Eleven, just like Avalanche. :D

Second night of the #@$& church festival. They blast their music from 7 until after 11pm (well that was yesterday which was a weeknight so who knows when it'll stop tonight). I go bed at 10pm these days. Add in screaming people and car horns trying to get through the traffic, and pacifist Teuth is feeling mighty violent. Even with my windows closed (which makes it unbearably hot) and headphones blasting I still hear the noise and feel the bass. I'm not even that close (see picture). I feel really bad for the folks directly across the street. After tonight I still have Saturday and possibly Sunday to deal with. Back in high school they held the festival the night before my SAT. That was torture.
