This is something we did at another forum that I went to. Basically, there aren't enough posts celebrating the average yet awesome things that may happen to you on a day to day basis. Come here to post a rave.

Raves:

My girlfriend just baked chocolate and caramel brownies.

Won a game at Gold Rush on TF2 for my team earlier with the scout by dodging an insane amount of grenades and rockets to land on the train and push it into the last control point.

And expensive.

Heh, that would be nice. Hurting yourself so you can make an appointment with the nurse.

No, we're both Jehovah's Witnesses and as you know, we visit people to shortly talk about the bible. We usually work in pairs of 2. Working together is a really nice way to get to know eachother, and it doesn't always have to mean something.

I guess some potential Raves are:
Got paid Today, thus allowing me to get an overdue haircut. After moving in with Grandma (Financial reasons) I finally got a Wifi card today for PC since Cable modem is in basement and only wireless is used. Hence my disappearance to GT because of the lack of decent internet.

Visited Iowa State last week and hope to be able to get in by next fall. Going to take some convincing =/ But I'm determined. Saw dad for first time in months and had a fun time as usual.

Yeah, I haven't gotten into college yet (5 years out of high school now =/ ) due to many things that just went wrong right after HS so it threw me off track for years until now.

I too think College is a little overrated and way too expensive (thank god it'll be in state tuition, 6-7 grand a year vs 16-17 grand a year out of state is absurd). Though the only way I'll stand a chance to get a job in the Meteorology field/area is to go to college.

I recently quit the soda-pop!
I used to drink like a can or two a day at work, a bottle of root beer at lunch, and a 1 liter bottle of coke over the period of the afternoon.
Almost every weekday.
And god knows how much I drank over the weekends...
IT WAS CRAZY!!!
And now it has come to an end... As of 2 1/2 weeks ago...

The Germanator
07-16-2008, 08:42 PM
Yeah, quitting soda has become part of my diet too. At first it was pretty hard, but now I don't really miss it and just drink a ton of water. The only beverages that I drink anymore that have calories are lightly sweetened iced teas (Honest Tea, Inko's Tea), smoothies, soy milk, lightly sweetened coffee, and booze.

The one part I miss is reviewing sodas as a hobby. When you don't drink 'em, you can't review 'em.

Vampyr

I've started drinking soy milk. It's pretty good, but I think it's going to be more of an acquired taste. I got chocolate too, and I think vanilla might have been a better choice.

I don't drink much pop, just an occasional Diet Dr. Pepper (regular pop is so insanely bad for you.) But I do drink a ton of coffee, which I've been trying to cut back on and drink more water. I'm down to about 1.5 cups a day.

Why is the album being released in UK and Europe before your native land?

Eh, just one of the consequences of having two different record labels. Ideally they'd just be a day apart like a lot of bands do, but it worked out differently this time...It'll still be better than the situation with our last album where the CD came out in the UK a full 11 months after the US release. Plus, then we can tour around the release in both places and not have to be in two places at once...

I didn't bother to read the whole thread until now, so...

KillerGremlin

I gave up soda completely for like a year and a half. Then, I broke down and slowly started drinking it again. And, I started drinking beer in college which is a technicality I suppose....so now I go for moderation.

One soda every once in a while won't kill you. Drinking 12 mountain dews at a LAN will....those were the days.

I still drink energy drinks like Red Bull and Rockstar. That's like soda combined with coffee, only worse.

So...you pick your battles. I avoid Coke and Pepsi like the plague. I can't stand that crap....it's way too acidic. I'll do a Mr. Pib or Dr. Pepper if I'm really feeling up for something with a nice acid kick, otherwise I go with rootbeer or 7up.

Heavy update is next. :)

I would say soldier and demoman will be the last updates they do, since they need the less work. I would think that Spy would follow after Heavy, but they might do Spy/Engi at the same time, so that if the spy gets another method of taking down buildings or something, the Engi has a way to combat it.

I do feel like they should give the Pyro -something- back, though, because they're underpowered again. They need to expand the size of the back burners back-hit box. If you imagine a clock, right now the crits only work when you are directly behind the person, at 6-o'clock. I think they should expand it to be from 5 - 7, or at least 5:30 - 6:30.

Evidently what they are trying to do with the Heavy update is give him an option that makes him less dependent on the medic. I would definitely play that kind of Heavy.

Several Raves:

1. I bought some espresso and started using the Espresso machine my uncle gave me a couple of Christmas's ago. I made a couple of cafe lattes for my girlfriend and I, and they're amazing. I'm going to get some chocolate syrup and make mochas.

2. This could have potentially been a rant. I've worked for two weeks on a quick search engine at work. In order to make it I had to learn an entire system that my team had written years ago, learn Struts (a framework for designing complex web pages), and java server pages. I had everything working great, the search returned the right results, and it even allowed the use of wildcards so that you could do something like A% and get every customer's name that started with an A. The point of the quick search was to launch a new window with a list of customers, then the user could click the one they wanted, and it would close the window and repopulate the original screen.

Turns out the funcionality I was using made everything possible...except for the opening of a new window. Since the searching is done server side, I can't display the results in a different window.

So now I have to learn AJAX, which greatly annoyed me at first. But now I'm pretty excited to be learning it, it's going to be really useful later on when designing my own websites.

3. I finally found a copy of The Watchmen at a local bookstore. Walden Books is now officially my favorite book store. It's great so far. I also bought the second book in the Twilight series.

4. It's the weekend. :D
