If Nintendo reveals the Wii iteration of Animal Crossing, we shan't use a single exclamation point in our liveblog upon the announcement. We already know that Nintendo of Japan has tentatively dated the game for a 2008 release at home and just assume that Nintendo of America will follow suit. According to the UK's Official Nintendo Magazine, it sounds like the announcement has already happened.

Tom East, online editor for ONM, writes on his blog that "those of you who have read the new issue of Official Nintendo Magazine should already know that Animal Crossing Wii will be unveiled at the conference." QED, I guess.

Since we've yet to see any ONM subscribers excitedly spill the details from the mag online — if there are any details, that is, outside of the brief Animal Crossing Wii mention we've already seen — we're going to hold tight on this almost-confirmation. But yeah, Animal Crossing Wii. We'll be shocked if it doesn't come up next Tuesday.

If it's the same shit as Wild World and the first game, I'll pass. They better introduce new gameplay elements and also allow a more flexible online system.. (preferably one without the words "Friend Code" involved).

I'd have to agree with BLue about the online thing.

An idea would be to visit someone's town that is playing in your region for example. You can make new friends and essentially get more friend codes and stuff that way.

Use Animal Crossing for Wii like PS3's Home, just to make a comparison.

The DS version never grabbed me the same way the Gamecube version did.

Hope the Wii will change that...

The GCN one got boring very fast for me.

Harvest Moon > Animal Crossing.

Never played an AC. BTW, the GC version was an enhanced port of the Japanese N64 version, right?

Never played an AC. BTW, the GC version was an enhanced port of the Japanese N64 version, right?

It was first released in Japan for the Nintendo 64 on April 14th, 2001. Due to limited sales because of the drastically decreasing N64 market, the game went unreleased for the N64 outside of Japan and was ported to the Nintendo GameCube in Japan on December 14, 2001; North America on September 15, 2002; Australia on October 17, 2003; and Europe on September 24, 2004.

You're correct!
