Ive got a Mac, recently installed Leopard, got a new modem which is connected to a wireless router and my internet is sucking balls. I can browse the web but anything that requires I sign in, it doesnt work(MSN, hotmail, xbox live) and ive tried everything I can think of to fix it but nothing works. Can anyone help me?
Did you figure this out, Combine?

Not at all. Its horrible!:( Ive been without Xbox Live for 3 days!
Okay, let me try to help you, but this is going to be rather difficult since I'm not there.
So you can access some webpages with your Mac, but not ones that require you to sign-in, correct? What browser are you using? Do you have cookies turned off?
As far as your 360 goes, have you tried the diagnostic tools in the System blade? Tell me which step fails.

Im using firefox. Not sure about cookies. With the 360, when I plug into the modem it cant find the IP address, plug into the router it says DNS i think, then wirelessly it says the MTU. Its really screwed up. Ive called Shaw and they are no help at all, they actually said they cant help me.
Mac - Try using Safari and see if you can log into websites.
360 - Try connecting your 360 directly into your ethernet source (probably a wall jack). See if that at least works.

Ive tried Safari and it doesnt work. And the modem is the ethernet source.
You don't have an ethernet cable that's plugged into your modem from a source?
You should have two ethernet cables plugged into your modem: one that goes into your router and one from a wall jack.

No, its the kind of cable that you would plug into your tv to get Cable. A Cable cable? Great, now the word cable no longer has a meaning in my brain.
Oh, right. I have that kind of modem.
Try resetting your modem and router. There should be a little "Reset" thing on the back that you can poke with a pencil.

Ive tried that. Nothing changed. Right now the computer is directly plugged into the modem and its still crap. I think I might need to get a person over here to fix it or something.
If you can access some websites, but not others, then it's most likely a problem with your computer software and not the modem. But it sounds like you didn't change anything to do with your software, and the only thing that has changed is your new modem.

Ya, and if it was a software problem then that wouldnt effect xbox live.
Do you still have your old modem?

No, it stopped working so I had to get a new one.
Did you get this new modem from your internet service provider?

Ya, Shaw. When I called them they said the internet is working fine, but it really isnt.
My only suggestion would be to unplug absolutely everything, let it sit, and then try plugging things back together one at a time.
If that doesn't work, then you just need to be assertive and demand someone come to inspect your internet.
