View Full Version : Show #2 Thread
Show #2: What we learned from show number one and all that jazz.
I'm going to try and make this much more seamless and streamlined than last week. Here is the basic outline of the show for tomorrow night. The main points are bolded, and then elaborated on beneath.
Introductions:
I'm going to try recording a generic introduction like GM suggested tonight and see how that goes. As far as the live introduction goes, I think one of us should do something along the lines of, "Good evening and welcome! My name's (blank) and I'm know as (blank) on the forums." We'll then all repeat the second sentence and be done with introductions.
Alphabetical order is always swell:
Aladuf
Bond
BreakABone
Dyne
flunkie44
Metal Gear Solid 4:
I know at the very least both Dyne and Aladuf have played MGS4. I thought you two could talk about your experiences so far with the game, reflections on the series, etc.
Super Smash Brothers: Brawl Tournament:
BaB is running this, so I thought you could talk about what's going on with it and how it's progressing. Any notable matches.
Mafia in Space segment (with Dylflon):
I think we're going to try to record a short segment with Dylflon, as BaB suggested. I'll send him a PM and see if he's free tomorrow night. The segment would basically just be to promote the new Mafia game.
What we’ve learned from Xbox Live:
This is my segment. I thought we could each tell a story of a memorable Xbox Live experience we've had, and what we've learned.
I'm heading out in a couple minutes to pick up an honest-to-god microphone. :D
Here's the credits which I just recorded:

Not sure if it's passable or not.
Son of a whore I picked up a Logitech headset that only works on Windows.
God DAMNIT. Why would they do that?!
Haha. Same thing happened with my headset, although I bought mine before I owned a mac.
Seriously. The cheapest one that works is $60 freaking dollars.

That's ridiculous.

NO MGS4 SPOILERS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I'm on Act 3, and MGS is quite possibly my favorite franchise ever.. I'm taking my time, searching every little nook and cranny, and absorbing every little detail into my first playthrough.
Dyne,

Yeah, I mentioned that we shouldn't do spoilers on it because of some people not finishing on playing it yet... we'll have to be careful.
Yeah, I'm on Act 3 now too. God I love the gameplay.
Ok, I'm an idiot who just realized he has a perfectly good Rock Band microphone that works on USB. The only problem is that I'll have to hold it, but who cares.
I only realized this AFTER I returned the old microphone and I saw an open-box Rock Band at the store.

:lolz: That reminds me of this guy that I occasionally play Burnout Paradise with on GAF, he doesn't have a headset for his PS3 so he has to use his Rock Band mic to talk.

Wait, so I can use the mic for MGO?
Niiiice. :D
What time is the show tonight?
It looks like everyone is online now except for Aladuf.
I have to eat dinner now, but I should be available in half an hour.

Ok, when do we do this?
I guess when Dyne gets back.
Everyone just go on Skype so we know if you're online. Make yourself "Available" again too.

We need to have a segment where everybody talks about their recent game purchases and what they're playing and how they like them.

I like this idea.
So like, audible Gaming Blogs then?
Were you able to edit any of the show tonight, Dyne?
JUST got the file, but the MP4 file, which doesn't work with audacity. I wonder if I can convert it to MP3 in itunes.
Also, holy shit I sound like Hilary Goldstein on IGN. :lolz:
EDIT: YES, I can MP3 it from iTunes. I'm good to go for tonight.

That's the raw file for anyone on the team who wants to listen to the unedited version
Ok, I tried the get the most in I could but I ran 15 minutes over. I even went and deleted a lot of little spaces here and there (which is why Bond sounds like he doesn't take a breath during his first Xbox Live story :lolz:) but I think it turned out pretty well.
I was going to re-edit it with music overplaying as we changed topics but I'm deciding to go to sleep tonight instead.
Can someone mirror it? I uploaded a rapidshare too, but I hit the delete link by accident so I was only left with the Yousendit. :( I think that will be fine for 20 downloads only.
It's interesting what a huge file size increase it is from m4a to mp3.
The m4a from last week was some thing like 18.8MB and this week it's 43.2MB.
Yeah, I noticed that. How do you convert on a Mac?
Convert from what to what?
The way I did it is GM sent me the file in mp3. I converted the mp3 to aac via iTunes. Imported the aac file into garageband and then garageband exports the file as m4a.
Ohh, I thought garageband exports as AAC. Did they change that in leopard?
I couldn't open MP4 at all so I could only work with mp3, but if I paste it all into garageband and export it for a smaller filesize, that's a good step to take.
I think it must have always been m4a, because my version of iLife came with Tiger.
You can easily add cover art in garageband too.
For the album covert art:

Sweet. Are you going to re-encode it at m4a and put the cover on for the iTunes listing? How is that going anyways? :)
Yeah, I can convert the file to m4a and add the cover.
I gave up trying to submit it to iTunes. Hopefully GM can figure it out.
