wat?

Bond

I'm just posting it here so I remember to work on it tomorrow.

It's a tricky son-of-a-gun.

Aladuf
06-16-2008, 11:46 PM
oh, haha

GameMaster
06-17-2008, 03:11 AM
I'm working on it too. Guess we'll race each other.

Bond
06-17-2008, 08:46 AM
Well, I finished it, and it validated, but iTunes did not like it. Did you have this same problem?

Bond
06-17-2008, 06:48 PM
How is it going GM? If you want, we can work together.

GameMaster

Well yesterday, I bought a new domain specifically for the GT podcast. And I created a web page to post and host our podcasts at. And it has a little subscribe button for iTunes users too. And it has the RSS implemented since iTunes requires that.

It takes 24-48 hours for processing before the site can even be accessed though so I'm basically waiting on that before I can start the process of submitting the podcast to iTunes.

Did they send you any sort of message or explanation as to why your submission wasn't accepted?

Bond

GM, that's very touching that you would go to all that trouble to host our little podcast. I'm actually a little floored... that's great though, really.

The interesting thing with the RSS feed that I made is that it passed validation, it was a perfect script. Yet for some reason iTunes would not accept it. And iTunes didn't say what the error was, it simply said "error." Very unhelpful. But it sounds like you have it under control, so I'll leave it to you.

That's awesome, thanks GM! You're really helping this come together. :D

I submitted our podcast to Apple and they emailed me back saying they've added it and its now under review. I didn't actually get a chance to listen to either podcast entirely so I'm not sure if we have any 'mature' content but when submitting I marked it as 'Clean'. So we'll see how that goes.

If the intention of submitting it to Apple was to gain more listeners, it would probably be best to best to keep our podcasts 'clean'. But then again, I really don't know. Some of the top subscribed podcasts our G4, 1Up.com, EGM and I don't know whether their podcasts are 'clean' or not. I like that you guys are able to speak freely and talk about what you want so I would hate if we had to censor ourselves or prohibit discussing certain things. Again, it depends on our intentions.

The very basic site I have up now has a subscribe button. So any one from GT or whoever visits the site can subscribe without going to the podcast section of iTunes.

You can see the site here: http://www.gametavernpodcast.net

I'll welcome anyone who would like to design unique artwork for each episode. Right now, we have the same image for every episode. I thought it would be cool if the image for each episode related somehow to what was discussed. Either one of the key topics or a collage of everything that was talked about. Just an idea.

And suggestion/comments for the site are encouraged. I used iWeb just because its fast and easy to whip up something quick. So I might be limited in respects to design. The application is catered to people with little knowledge of web design so the ability to change things/ add features is somewhat limited.

Edit: This current theme is pretty ugly. For those familiar with iWeb, I think I'll change it to the 'Black' theme tomorrow.

Edit Again: I changed the theme. Its the black one now. No one will ever know of the former ugly one. Except Dyne <_<

Dyne

Awesome!

Yeah, I don't know, I think we do have some slipups. I think I swore twice. :( We can keep it clean for the future, definitely. If not, I can always beep it out. :lolz:

Okay...

I'll add a link to the new podcast homepage next to the Arcade.

And GM, do you want to upload these podcasts as m4a or mp3s? I think m4a might save you some space and bandwidth.

GameMaster
06-20-2008, 09:04 PM
Yeah the first two are m4a, might as well continue the trend.

Bond
06-20-2008, 09:28 PM
Dyne uploaded it as mp3. Did you convert it to m4a?

GameMaster

Yeah, I put in the artwork like you did too. ^_^

GameMaster
06-21-2008, 01:18 PM
Yay! Apple approved our podcast and it can been accessed here:

http://phobos.apple.com/WebObjects/MZStore.woa/wa/viewPodcast?id=283666253

They said it'll be searchable from the the iTunes Store in 1-2 days.

Let the good times roll!

Very nice!

I'll add a link to the podcast on the forums tonight.

Fantastic. It wasn't marked as explicit or anything?

GameMaster

Fantastic. It wasn't marked as explicit or anything?

No, I'm guessing they didn't listen to it all the way through or the occasional curse word is fine by them.

In light of this, I wouldn't change a thing about how you conduct yourselves in the podcasts.

Great job on the feed GM!

I do have one suggestion though. I think it might be better if you changed the "Welcome!" field to "GameTavern."

Nice! I tried searching for the podcast a few hours ago and nothing came up. Hopefully iTunes indexes us before the show this week!
