View Full Version : Taping Wednesday Night Thread
Here's our outline thanks to BaB:
-Start off by talking about GT community nights. I know Aladuf, Flunkie and Dyne have been around for the Kart, Smash and Dr. MArio ones. And more than enough stories to share. Who matches up. Who is good stuff like that.
-Bond did the GTA night with Fox, Swan and Combine. Stuff to talk about there.
-What is it like playing with GTers.
-Community events. Talk about current threads. What did you think of the pinecone thread. Did it live up to potential. What did you think about the challenge being changed at the last moment.
-Cross promote some of the blogs. Since Flunkie, Aladuf and Dyne are also 3 of the more active bloggers. I expect a special segment on Paper Mario.
-Member focus. Here you can pick a single member or differentt members each to shine the spotlight on for a bit. Some of their best moments and biggest goofs.
Tavern Talk: Favorite drinking game involving cards.
We should also do a quick mic check before the show, and also introduce ourselves first thing after recording.
We can use this thread to coordinate what we're talking about and such during taping.

Sounds good. Do we have a specific time set yet?
I'll try to get a headset tuesday afternoon. :)
Sounds good. Do we have a specific time set yet?
Let's aim for the evening. Somewhere around 9et/8ct/7mt/6pt. If that works for everyone.

That's fine with me.
We might have a bit of a problem getting everyone together. By my count we cover three different time zones, but hopefully it won't be too big of a problem.

I'm helping someone move tomorrow at work, and it's supposed to last all day. I can't see it going into the night, but who knows.
Just a little heads-up if I'm not here or something.

You inconsistent mofo flunkie! But I think this'll not be starting anywhere before 8 pm your time, so I hope you should be done by then.. otherwise do we want to maybe consider getting someone else ready for the show incase flunkie can't make it? I know birdman wants in on a podcast sometime because he was mentioning it yesterday when we were at work.

So what's the word? Time? Participants? Earl helping? Dyne got a headset?
And maybe if the Mafia game is over after this round we should talk about it in the podcast (if that wasn't already mentioned, I don't feel like looking back :p)
I never did get a headset, hahah. :( But it should be fine.
Boooooooo.
I got my headset to work with my PC, but not my Mac. Skye is so much better on the mac... oh well.

It should work fine. Is it a USB headset? Don't forget to choose the headset in the Skype preferences after you've connected it.

So, apparently this is on in 15 minutes. Who's the cast going to be?
Also, I was thinking maybe because we're starting out, why don't we stick to a half-an-hour show? That way, more people would be inclined to listen. If not, I can just edit the best parts together into a half-an-hour show.

Wait really? 15 mins.??!!
Wasn't it for 6pm my time / 9pm EST?

It goes straight into the microphone and headphone ports. Is that why it doesn't work?

I wasn't sure if it was or not I had just started playing Gears... :(
Oh no! I'm playing TF2 with BaB and Fox. Let's push this back a little later. Everyone should still be around... eh?

Yeah, that sounds best. Maybe in that time we can get flunkie back too.
Wait, who do we all need again?
We have: Bond, Aladuf, Dyne, BaB, GM. We just need flunkie, right?
Alright, that's fine.
Also, how do we submit this to iTunes or whatever? I know we'll just be posting an MP3 of it to start out, but my other forum has a whole subscription setup thing and everything.

Seems like it, I guess if flunkie doesn't come back then we'll have to go without him.

Well, I'm glad this thing didn't go through at 6 PM as planned. Cause I got home late (just now). I'm on Skype now so I'm ready to record whenever we do this.

Seriously, lets go folks... we only need two more of you.
Fake edit: Dyne just signed on so we're waiting on you Bond.
Real edit: I want to do this then get back to mah games.
Why is Jim in the podcast if he doesn't post anymore?
Is there a way to "accidentally" disconnect Jim?
I wonder if they'll read this?

Since we are doing this.
We may as well post what we need to cover next week starting with the Billy Mitchell video stuff no one was prepared for today.
GM, did you send the file to Dyne?
I posted the show notes up. I'll update them when we have the show file.

That was definitely a solid podcast, in my opinion. The conversation/Mario Kart afterwards was great as always. :)
Is it me or does flunkie sound like me. :lolz:
But yeah, good, solid podcasting going on there. I'm going to have to have it by tomorrow night, or else you guys won't get it until sunday night. I'm going away camping friday-sunday morning.

I think a lot of the "post-podcast" stuff could make it in, between the GTA stuff and I think there was something else too.. can't wait to hear it.

O thank heavens.
I didn't want to say anything because I am terrible at voice recognition.
But some of the time couldn't tell you two apart.
And yeah also, I thought a lot of the post-podcast free discussion stuff just sounded better.
I think for next time we should have some form of an outline but really just broad points we could possibly hit if nothing else to talk about. We don't need to say like what's the next topic or anything just make the conversation flow.
Yeah at the end there I was like, wait a second, I'm not talking, but it sounds like I'm talking. Hahaha! I don't know. It just sounds like how I'd sound.
Once I get a headset it might be easier to tell us apart, Earl. :p
But yeah, if GM really DID record all that, I'll probably fit the openings and stuff from the podcast segment and then the rest of the stuff after because yeah, it did sound more natural.

I agree with this. It felt kinda too staged. It wasn't really a bad thing, I just think the natural stuff after the podcast was more fun and more "us".

I never thought Dyne and flunkie sounded similar... at all. Maybe it sounds different when you listen to the actual feed?

So... I did record all of it. Clocked in at 4 hours 28 minutes 21 seconds.
And I promise next time I'll be much, much more active. I was in and out of the house running various unexpected errands most of the afternoon/evening.
And this thing is STILL uploading so sorry its not available yet.
Even though I didn't hear much of it, you guys made it sound like there was a lot of good discussion. So I was thinking rather than edit out so much good stuff, we could break this into 3 or 4 podcasts or whatever. Just a thought.
The first about 30 minutes was pre-show talk which started as soon as flunkie invited me in. Then everyone (or maybe it was just me) got booted from the room so there's 3-5 minutes of silence before flunkie recreated the talk room. Then it basically goes on through the whole podcast all the way until BaB and flunkie were playing Mario Kart and then flunkie leaves.
I only know that because I skipped to the end. So there may be some more twists and turns in the middle.
Also, do we want to transcribe this? That would be a long task.
flunkie44
06-12-2008, 10:34 AM
All I have to say is..
Good luck Dyne. :lolz:
Hey, Dyne volunteered!
GM, could you post the raw file so all of us could listen to it?
Transcribe? :lolz:
Enh, it won't be hard to find the best stuff and fit it into half an hour, and hour at the very most. Also, the last 2 hours were pretty much Mario Kart anyways.
Yeah, I'm sure we had a quality 30 minutes in there. 60 minutes might be a stretch.
The talk about GTA IV at the end was quite good.
Transcribing would be a definite no. :)

So, when are we seeing this?
GM was online, but didn't appear to post the file. Post it GM!
He's trying to send me the file. It's 250 megs. I don't think you guys will get to hear it in its raw form. :(
That's cool. I'm sure you could cut off around the last hour or so and save 60MB.
