Do you guys have any specific games where if you and anyone else played some multiplayer you would just tear them up?

For me it's Gears for the most part. I've been known to lose some matches to ol' Jim and "Campin' Max" (birdman) but I mostly blame my endless cockiness and the urge to just get a sniper headshot for every kill. For the most part, Gears is my specialty. I'm still decent at other games, but nothing amazing.

So what game out there is your specialty?

No, no, I really am better than you.

I also pick Gears of War; when I really want to, I can do very well consistently. I can't claim that in other online games.

Multiplayer games? I am (read: was) really good at MotoGP for Xbox. By really good, I mean I was ranked #8 when the game became glitched and all of the top players, including myself, stopped playing. That's the last game I really played competitively.

I also played Ghost Recon (the original) religiously, and was pretty good at it. The team I played for did very well. The original SOCOM was another game I was absurdly good at. However, I stopped playing before scoreboards even worked, so I can't tell you how I compared.

Currently, the only game I'm really good at is Call of Duty 4, and I argue that's just because everyone else sucks. But in the 7 days of gameplay I've put in (6 during Xmas break, barely touch it except between semesters), I completely dominate almost every game I'm in. I've managed to lead rooms playing only with claymores. It's sad, but I picked it up a couple weeks ago and still led the rooms. That's why I think other people just suck.

However, aside from MotoGP, the games I am really good at are single player. Crazy Taxi mini-games were always a specialty of mine, still hold a world record in one of those, and close to most. I also am ranked 2nd, last time I checked, in 18 Wheeler. Played Monkey Ball Banana Blitz too much for my own good, and was ranked 2nd when I stopped playing. Still believe I'm in the top 5 despite new players having the benefit of watching all of our old techniques.

I thought I was relatively good at Brawl but my matches with BaB have caused me to rethink that stance. ;-)

However, when it comes to 4 vs. 4 matches in WarCraft 3, I'm a total domination station. My team always wins!

Mario Kart. I think I only had 4 total losses on Mario Kart DS. The SNES version? Nobody could ever touch me on that.

Mario Golf. I played the N64 version and GBC consecutively all summer one time. I love Mario Golf games to death.

..and Turok. :D But everybody knows they tuned Inhuman difficulty to me. Aww yeah.

I don't really know how good I am at games. I know I can kick my friends' asses in Perfect Dark and Golden Eye. I know I'm a decent sniper in Team Fortress 2.
I used to be a decent Warcraft 3 player. Not in the top, but almost in the middle class.

But I suck with Super Smash Bros. :(

Well good thing the Wii has both of those games.
Maybe you can show your skills.

If you think I'm good. You should probably go one on one with Bluefire. You may consider selling your Wii at that point and hiding in the mountains. :lolz:

Again, I believe it was only once and it was after like a week straight of you playing against me to get better.

As for actual games, there are a few.
I dominated and I mean dominated in Mario Tennis went over half a year undefeated. Also where got the nickname Gaming God.

Ask half of Wrassle-Age on GAF who the king of Smackdown vs Raw is and there can only be one answer. I've made Aladuf sell the game twice. :p

I am a savante at Virtua Fighter 4 stand-up arcade. When I say savante, I mean it. I can't be beaten and never have been. The first time I ever played I was in Dave and Busters, loaded off my ass, and no one could knock me off the thing. I would conservatively estimate that when playing with the "monk" avatar (don't even know his name) my opponents only got in offense half of the time.

It's an out of body experience. I don't so much play the game, as I dance with the joystick and make love to the buttons. Its organic and sensual in its intuitiveness. I know no "moves" in Virtua Fighter 4 stand-up arcade, only the fluidity and immortality of the shaolin.

On a console? I'm rubbish.

I know! Every game needs to have theater modes like Halo 3 has where I can save footage. I pray that Gears 2 has it, but I've gotten some nasty shots in COD4 before that leave me wanting a film saver, especially last night when I got an awesome shot.

Pinball is a type of coin-operated arcade game where a player attempts to score points by manipulating one or more metal balls on a playfield inside a glass covered case called a pinball machine. The primary objective of the game is to score as many points as possible. Secondary objectives are to maximize the time spent playing (by earning extra balls and keeping the ball in play as long as possible) and to earn free games (known as replays).

Aladuf
06-02-2008, 09:02 PM
Yeah, you said this at Gamestop before, who the fuck cares if I'm buying a Pinball game? I don't bowl at my house but I play Wii Sports and bowl, so what the hell? This makes no sense.

Renwood
06-02-2008, 09:06 PM
The origins of pinball are intertwined with the history of many other games. Games played outdoors by rolling balls or stones on a grass course, such as Bocce or Bowls, eventually evolved into games played by hitting the balls with sticks and propelling them at targets. Croquet and Shuffleboard are examples of these games.

These games led to indoor versions that could be played on a table, such as Billiards or Carrom, or on the floor of a pub like Bowling. The tabletop versions of these games became the ancestor of the modern pinball machine.

Aladuf
06-02-2008, 09:09 PM
ok, You can stop critiquing my game purchases now, I don't care if you agree with what I buy because you don't feel that I should play Pinball outside of on a Pinball machine. Don't you always say how you don't care what games others buy?

Renwood
06-02-2008, 09:10 PM
The existence of table-based games dates back to the 15th century. While some games took the wickets and balls of Croquet and turned them into the pockets of modern billiards, some tables became smaller and had the holes placed in strategic areas in the middle of the table.

In France, during the reign of King Louis XIV, someone took a billiard table and narrowed it, placing pins at one end of the table while making the player shoot balls with a stick or cue from the other end. Pins took too long to reset when knocked down, so the pins eventually were fixed to the table and holes took the place of targets. Players could ricochet the ball off the pins to achieve the harder scoring holes.

In 1777, a party was thrown in honor of the King and his wife at the Château de Bagatelle, owned by the brother of the king. The highlight of the party was a new table game featuring the slender table and cue sticks, which players used to shoot ivory balls up an inclined playfield. The table game was dubbed Bagatelle by the King's brother and shortly after swept through France. Some French soldiers carried their favorite bagatelle tables with them to America while helping to fight the British in the American Revolutionary War. Bagatelle spread and became so popular in America as well that a political cartoon from 1863 even depicts President Abraham Lincoln playing a tabletop bagatelle game.

Very nice! I never end up using the uzi's. I always stick to one of three things, either an AR, Sniper, or Shotty (so I'm basically exactly like 90% of COD4 players :P)

Aladuf

Yeah, I only use the shotty on basically one map (downpour) otherwise I'm not too keen on it, but I will pick one up every once in a while if I need a new gun. LMG is the same case, I only really use it on one map...I can't think of it's name. It's the one where most of the action takes place inside of a big building but there is an outside area with big metal bins and all that... I just like to unload an LMG down crowded hallways :p Tactics FTW!

One time I found out that kids on my school were playing Aliens vs. Predator on the school network. I silently joined them in their game. I chose to play as a Predator, while most others were marines. I slaughtered them all. :D Without dying once, I got on top of the score list.
Then I heard some kid say "Who's Angrist??" followed by a "I think he's the guy over there..."
Then my next class was starting and the next day the school had uninstalled and forbidden games on the server.
