I haven't played the series since Civ II, and I had heard a few things about this new game being made from the outset as a console experience with a controller in mind, but I expected to eventually see a review pop up confirming that the developer still hadn't made the controller viable.

Jeff Green had some positive impressions on GFW Radio yesterday, so I looked at a few other impressions, and it seems that it actually has captured the Civilzation feel and is actually very accessable and easy to manage with a controller. The game itself sounds like fun. After got away from the series, and didn't go back when I figured that things had probably progressed to the point of complexity where it would be more like work and less like play to get into the game (this is what happened with SimCity).

They've streamlined the gameplay, but the previews stated that it didn't seem to sacrifice depth or make it Civ for Babies. I think this could become a fun summer game. Two of the people on my friends list are Civilzation nuts, so hopefully the multiplayer will work as well as its been built up to. It would definitely be a change of pace from shooters and action games.

And now I want to play Risk.

So how long until you end up getting ideas to build a gaming PC again Jim?

Oh right, I forgot about that.. have you found yourself not wanting that car so much now? Or is a $5,000 car all of a sudden more attractive than a $6,000 car?

I still regularily play Civ III to kill time.
I can't wait to be able to play Civ: Revolution on my TV.

I liked Civ IV, but since they cut back on Civ Rev, I don't think I'd like it that much.
