View Full Version : Aladuf's 13 1 0 G *May 25* A new challenger has arrived!

Well, to start the week I played a good amount of Gears yesterday with "Jim" and it was alright... these 1 vs. 1 matches have begun to get a bit stale though. After that we did a bit of Team Doubles in Halo 3 which turned out to be mind-numbingly boring. SO! Onto the new challenger...

After buying COD4 again the other day I have found myself re-addicted to it. The new maps with the exception of China Town are pretty damn awesome. I've been playing it as much as Gears lately, which is pretty amazing for me.

And finally, last night I played this Pinball game for PSP which was fun but I felt like I kept getting screwed by the game because I would shoot the ball but before I had a chance to do anything it would just go around the back or whatever and be counted against me.

I've not bought any games this week yet but give me time ;)

Read Here!
And I want to try something different this week, I have the craving to play a Zelda game again on Gamecube so I want you guys to help me decide which one gets played first... vote at the poll :D. When the poll is over I'll start the game next week and give some updates in my next 13 1 0 G.

lol sounds like good times, I have no idea what it is really.. but I saw you had been playing it earlier.

Rez HD is like religion in form of XBLA download.

Also, Wind Waker first. Twilight takes it and shits on it so you better appreciate it for what it is first. :D Don't get me wrong, I still loved WW, but TP really ripped it apart.

Aladuf
05-26-2008, 03:56 PM
Yeah, I was thinking about how much better WW is than TP but I looked at it two ways:

1) Play TP first and then WW will be a good step up and it maybe more fun.

2) Play WW first to get the good one out of the way.

*shrugs* either way, you guys decide for me.

I would say Wind Waker and TP at the same time because as much as I liked TP if I had to play that opening segment again by itself would kill someone.

Aladuf
05-26-2008, 04:35 PM
TP's opening was pretty rough, I wanted to go apeshit running around as a dog looking for teardrops. Otherwise, I loved the game to death.

The best new CoD 4 map is broadcast. Chinatown is frustrating if jerks just camp the buildings, which they are sure to do.

Aladuf
05-26-2008, 06:38 PM
Yeah definetly, Broadcast is awesome... I've only been able to play it once but it was hella good. I'm really enjoying Creek too but some fucks usually like to camp in this one area and it makes me CRAZY.

If Wind Waker had been able to fit in the cut dungeons, and two or three truly large islands (Windfall Island was a good start, but a true city would have been magnificent), it would be untouchable by any other Zelda. Even as it is, its still my favorite by a fair margin, because playing the game was simply fun for the senses.

Sailing into dawn, as the sun slowly crests the horizon; the music swells... <3

Oh damn! I just wrecked some dude in Gears who was talking shit in the pre match lobby. He decided to keep reminding everyone how he was 2-0 in 1 vs. 1 matches and that "nobody better touch his snipe".

All I can say is that I've never hit so many blindfires in one match all on ONE guy. The fucker was maaad pissed by the end of the match when I finished his ass with a headshot for the win. I'm sad though because he didn't stick around after that to try and get at least one god damn headshot on me. :(

Maybe next time xXxJxOxKxExRx13xXx (no, I am not exaggerating the amount of x's in his name... I don't get why you need THAT MANY FUCKING X'S!)

Sorry for the douchbag e-cock stroking I just displayed there but I had to post this in my 13 1 0 G because I love it when my nights go this good. :D

Creek is hit or miss, sometimes im sniped every 10 seconds or others in sniping someone every ten seconds.

I had heard that, so far I've not had to deal with too many sniper problems though I do notice a lot more sniping on that map than others.

Bought a Wii today, and rented Boom Blox. Jim is heading over so I'll post some impressions when we're all done!

Boom Blox: a game that is fun the first time you play it, and increasingly less so each time after.

On the RS Scale
Hell Yeah! [ ]
What the hell? [ ]
Why the hell not? [ X ]

It is worthy to exist and it was worthy to be played. That is the extent of it.

Aladuf

That was how I felt at first but I think the things with those types of games are that usually you don't power through the entire game in one run. We played for a while and easily burnt us out. Sure, I can see its flare running out after the first run but I could keep playing it.

An hour and a half shouldn't exhaust me on the game. The Jenga mode was where the game shone, but there were nowhere near enough puzzles or deviations on the formula. It was the same thing each time. The best part was the tactile response you got from the Wiimote. It was impressive. The throwing mode felt less responsive, but was still enjoyable.

The other modes were mediocre.

If the toolset is truly impressive, there may be more to this, but I am not someone who is good at setting up RUBE Goldberg machines. I respect those who do, but I want pre-made levels, especially on the Wii where the prospect of downloadable or shareable content is hazy at best. And in that respect, there just wasn't enough in the multiplayer competitive modes.

Co-op and the Boom Blox forge may prove more interesting. But after the amount of good things I heard about multiplayer and how addictive/endless fun it is, my expectations are low. Which is good. Its more difficult to be disappointed.

but I am not someone who is good at setting up Ruth Goldberg machines.

Do you mean Rube Goldberg?

Ruth Goldberg sounds like the version that would need knobs instead of switches. If you know what I mean.

Anyways, it's a shame. I heard there was a lot of little easter eggs in the game for Wii enthusiasts. :(

Well maybe you should call it a night, no? You're approaching a solid 24 hours there... that's tough.

Oh, and to all of you Wii owners, if you haven't given Boom Blox a try. I definetly recommend it. Lots of fun!

Regardless, it made for some very fun times. The lines and goofy things that came from playing BB was downright awesome!

Well a little update from last night:

Pre-LOST BaB and a few others were playing COD4 for a bit so I joined in when BaB invited me and soon thereafter BaB lagged out and everyone strayed about and I didn't get a chance to play. :(

After LOST I attempted to play a bit of COD4 again but I just wasn't feeling it so I went over to Gears where I played a couple matches but all together wasn't feeling it either really.

So I popped on the Wii and decided to take a shot at Boom Blox's single player. It was fun! :D I love this game a lot and I definetly see myself buying it when I get a few extra dollars! I wish I had more Wii games right now, but payday is next week so I'll get some then.

*And on a side note, I feel like these blogs could get more attention if they were in their own separate Gaming Blog forum or something. Where people would notice the forum if they were on the main page. *shrugs* It just seems like the same couple of us doing the blogs.

Yeah, that's the thing - this was just a way for BaB to keep track of my Paper Mario playing. If it flew, it would stick around. If I finish Paper Mario and it hasn't really flown, then it might get the axe. :) We've tried general-purpose blogs before and they didn't really take off.

Aladuf
05-30-2008, 02:23 PM
Aww that kinda sucks.

But maybe if for one week you make this its own forum (while you're still playing Paper Mario) and we could see if it picks up so it may be able to stick around?

Dyne

Unfortunately, I don't think visibility is the problem - and this is coming from the guy who's pushed to having just two forums on the main page. We used to have a ton of forums. The forum is so small that anyone who clicks Video Games is likely to see this anyways. :)

Hahaha, what the hell. I didn't play Gears of War very long but it didn't take long to figure out what the weapon situation was.

Well the worst part was, like I said that the weapons were swapped! So there was basically all snipers on the map but the dude just had to have that specific one. I love these message wars on XBL because they are always so DUMB.

It reminds me of this weird kid I use to play Gears with online. He would like switch it so like most all the weapons on the map were snipers :lolz:

O wait...

I'm having a Zelda craving this summer.

I'm about to fire a record up in Wind Waker, and I hope I enjoy it. The game was fun, I know I give it a hard time for being OoT on the ocean, but I'm sure I'll enjoy it.

Then, I plan to beat TP on the Cube. I played through about 6 hours of it, and then I had college, so I stopped.

Also...if I finish those two titles, I may go retro and beat MM/OoT. We will see, it's gonna be hard with work and my social life.

From what I can tell, I prefer WW to TP. I know I didn't get very far in TP, but WW's art style was to die for. It was just gorgeous. It also had a great combat system. And, as much as I hated sailing because it was a repetitive pain in the ass at times, I second Jim's comment about sailing into the sunset, or watching a thunderstorm on the horizon. Truly a unique experience. If only you could go under the sea...that would be cool. And yeah, the game needed a few bigger islands.

I can never finish a Zelda game for my life. I always get halfway through and it just gets so boring to me that I just can't go on. The farthest I got is on Phantom Hourglass for the DS. I might've gotten a little over halfway through on that one.

It's not like I planned it that way - I'd really like to love Zelda.. they just don't hold my attention.

Wind Waker was the only Zelda I've ever played. I thought it was great. I love the sailing adventure theme that plays whenever you hope in the boat. I burned it onto a CD and had it on nonstop repeat in my car for a while.
