So in the last few days I've been playing the hell out of Paper Mario and shmups. I've accrued eight and a half hours into Paper Mario. I got Bow the Boo and defeated Tubba Blubba. I JUST got the train for Toy Town but I haven't gone anywhere else there yet. I got stuck in the pipe dungeon in the town, with all those purple koopas, and I gave up. Ugh. I'm starting to appreciate the game for what it is, rather than being in the shadow of the masterpiece that is Mario RPG.
As for the shmups, it's exclusively the Star Soldier series. What a great series of games. I figured out how to move faster in the older games, Blazing Lazers and Super Star Soldier, by pressing minus. I exclusively play on the wii remote sideways. I'm just used to it. I'm also playing the WiiWare Star Soldier R. Still a great game, and definitely worth the 800 points.
I almost bought Panzer Dragoon 1 today as part of a buy three get one free at a local shop, called mostly music. I ended up getting The Office UK version, Angel season 1, Full House season 1 (for my girlfriend) and then the Terminator 2 Blu-ray, but none of that is gaming-related, even if I will watch them all on my PS3. :D
I talked a ton with the store owner, Todd, and we talked on a ton of subjects, including the storage debacle on the Wii. Why can't Nintendo just release a simple USB hard drive that's impossible to open with any tools? Even if it has 512 megs it's leagues better than what they have now. Or they could just let us run stuff off of the SD cards. That would be great. COME ON, Nintendo.
