View Full Version : What Would Drive you to the other Consoles?

I think the thread title says it all.

But speaking to Stu about getting a PS3 (because I feel the MGS 4 bundle is too good a deal to pass up) but outside of that and Uncharted there really isn't anything I want on the console, which is why I have never pulled the trigger (contrary to popular belief about me only supporting Nintendo :p )

So curious since I don't think many tri-console owners here, what would make you want to get the other one or two consoles you don't currently own. Price drops? Huge must own game? New bundle?

MGS4 - PS3
new Zelda - Wii

The main problem with me buying a PS3 or Wii right now is that I live in a house with all three consoles (360 is mine, roommates own PS3 and Wii) so it'd make no sense for me to purchase the other consoles...but at the same time I know they wouldn't buy MGS4 or Mario Galaxy or something, so I'm kinda screwed playing what they wanna play.

I don't understand why people are so "zommggg!!!!111!!!" over one specific console.

Nothing would "drive" me to a console, other than the reason why I buy the ones I do already: Good games, Good graphics.

Well, I don't think its having a thing for one specific console.

As much as it is not having a drive for other consoles.

I mean for me I think a lot of things need to come together. I still think the PS3 is priced too highly and as much as there are some games I want to try I don't feel any of them justify me spending that much money.

Now my 360 I got a good deal for it when I bought it and it had games I currently wanted and was waiting for so it worked out.

Now my Wii well just a bit biase. ;)

There are different versions of PS3.

I have the top-of-the-line 900 dollar one with 4 ports, and dual backwards compatability for the big TV in the living room.

But then in my room I have the 300 dollar 2 port, no backwards compatability version for just my bedroom.

These must be insane Canadian prices was never that much or that cheap in the states.

And I get that there are different SKUs, I follow the console. I still don't think any game justifies the asking price for me, but like I said the MGS 4 bundle is REALLY tempting so if I can clear up some finances I may get it.

What you also have to factor in, is that the PS3 doubles as a Blu-ray player, and Blu-ray players are almost as expensive, if not more expensive than a PS3 in the first place.

Which is highly stupid.

O the PS3 being a blu ray player is the number one reason interested in it right now.
But I feel like would only watch certain movies in hi-def or rebuy as it were.

A car.

That was bad. :p

I really wanted Rock Band for the PS3 or Xbox 360 because they both have new content continually being offered which you can download. The Wii won't have that download service. So I guess that would be considered a feature driving me to get PS3 or 360. But because of the prices (or me not having enough money), I'm just going to get the Wii version since I have a Wii.

Features and price drops.

The 360's lineup drove me to a PS3, I saw many many many more games I wanted to play on the PS3 and I went for it. I've not regretted in once.

I don't know what it would take to get me to buy a Wii again... :(

I don't get that at all, too expensive? I see it as a way better daal than the 360.

$350- Xbox 360
$50- 1 Year of Xbox Live
$100- Wireless adapter to play online

Total= $500

$399- PS3
$0- Online for forever
$0- Built-in adapter

Total= $399 or to be fair, if you want a HDD that is 4 times bigger instead of 2 times bigger then it would be $499

* And that includes a Blu-Ray player *shrugs*

Well assuming you know I don't have a wireless adapter.
And I have never bought anything on my 360 full price.

They still work out about the same.
And yeah I felt the 360 was too damn expensive as well, but I got 100 dollars back so it was a steal. :p

You're a CAG ;)

But that's for you though, I didn't know that you don't have a wireless adapter. But for many people the PS3 would still be the cheaper option in the short and long run. But everyone just still sees the PS3 as the $600 piece of shit that only has Resistance and I feel bad for them because they're missing one hell of an offering of games.

Free. Yeah, if they were free I'd be more inclined to pick them up.
