Yes...today, my ipod died. I got the dreaded hard drive double click. I couldn't reset my ipod or access disk mode. I have little faith in clicking hard drives, and since my warranty is 6 months expired I decided to take the ipod apart. It's pretty cool stuff inside, but I have no respect. I broke the crap out of the Toshiba drive in it.

This is the worst beginning to summer for me. My phone battery crapped out on me (new one on the way), my ipod just died (probably won't resolve for a while), and my laptop is having video problems which leads me to believe my 7900 Go is being lame and overheating. Hopefully an external laptop fan can resolve that....but with my luck I'm just waiting for it to fail. I'm kind of thinking Vista isn't helping, and I might test install XP to see what happens.

Anyway, I'll probably wait till August to buy a new MP3 player. Most likely an ipod. The best thing is the ipod touch is helping keep the prices down on all the other ipods. The ipod touch is a totally useless piece of crap, so I'll most likely pick up an ipod classic or a nano in August once I make some money. In the mean time, I'll be dragging my POS antique CD player to work....good thing I still have a giant CD collection.

I actually liked my iPod Touch. It was so great being able to slip on internet during class to occasionally check for new posts here.

I like the Minis though because they're nice and small.

You should kill 2 birds with 1 stone and save up for the the new iPhone coming out June 9th... supposedly.

I was so depressed when my first iPod died. The dreaded high pitch spin up, click, spin down, repeat.

I'm planning on getting an iPhone once my contract expires in September. Hopefully 2nd gen should be going strong by then.

Eh, I'm in the middle of my 2-year contract with Verizon. I'm going to stick with it, get a new battery, and see where phone shopping takes me in 2 years. I like Verizon because the people who I talk to the most are on the same network, so all texting and calling is free for me pretty much.

I might get an ipod mini, we shall see. The touch is unnapealing to me because I like to be able to do stuff without looking at my ipod, and I wouldn't be able to push Next >> in the winter (which in Chicago gets pretty cold) without using my bare hands.

My first ipod, an ipod shuffle second gen, green, died when my mom put it in the washer after an Amon Amarth concert. :(

However, my friend is working at the Apple store here in vancouver and she's going to book me an appointment with a specialist when it opens on saturday at 10am. Woop! I HAVE bought another blue one, but it'll be so nice to have a dedicated ipod for driving and one dedicated to the abuse of my running routine.

I didn't wait for my iPod to break to replace it, I bought a cheap 2GB Sansa e250r player awhile back in order to use Rhapsody To-Go, and I couldn't be happier...

I didn't wait for mine to break either. I had a 30GB Photo. I replaced it back in September with an 80GB Classic. The girlfriend now has my photo and it's still going strong.

well, my ipod had a good run...it's been dropped numerous times. i know the harddrives are rated to withstand some pretty decent g-force, but they don't hold up so well during vibrations. given that i've dropped the thing at least 10 times, with probably 5 major drops, it had a good run. my next ipod will most likely be flash based, no moving parts = indestructible!
