This week, so far, I've bought the remaining two Star Soldier games in preparation for Star Soldier R, which I bought on Tuesday. I already own Blazing Lazers on TurboGrafx, but none of the others. I played Star Soldier R for an hour and a half so far. I love the gameplay.

I was drinking a beer last night, too, and that reminded me of the summer I played Skies of Arcadia: Legends, which I never did beat. I remember drinking a beer or two and playing it every single night. Actually, I think I stopped playing in favour of Harvest Moon: Magical Melody that summer. Damn, that was a good game.

BaB is also forcing me to play Paper Mario after hearing my rants on it. Since it's waiting for me on my Wii right now, I guess I'm going to have to play it. I'm a HUGE fanboy of Mario RPG, so it's got high standards to live up to. As well, I hope it doesn't ruin my classic controller's analog stick - I remember it being pretty hard on the N64 controllers (along with Smash Bros and Mario Party 1).

hmm.. Paper Mario you say? I owned that at one point and enjoyed it a bit, but it really wasn't my style. And I got really lost in the game at a few points :(

You know, as much as I've harped on it, I think it's actually pretty good. Even though it shamelessly recycles a lot of Mario RPG's good points, it overall works. It falls flat (ohoho) in some areas, but I'm hoping they resolve as I play through.

Ok, I finished Chapter "1" in Paper Mario and got the first star. Are you happy BaB. :p

Very happy.
Now we need details, what worked. What didn't work.

How it feels to play more than 5 mins. :p

Well a lot of it seems familiar. I'm wondering if I did watch my brother do the first chapter. I DO remember that I played maybe half an hour, and not five minutes, but wasn't saving - and it bittered the experience for me. But VC is way, way more convenient.

I'm just glad to see timed attacks back. Those really worked in Mario RPG. Personally, I don't like the two-in-a-party situation because it puts too much focus on Mario. But maybe I'll warm up to it.

The two people in a party but not really two does take some getting use to.

And it's been a while since I've played who is in your party at the end of the first chapter. I know you have the goomba.

It's Goombario, Kooper, and Bombette. Not bad. I like Kooper the best so far though.

Some cool characters.
I believe the first one sticks to it more than the sequel and alot more than Super Paper Mario, but I like that your buddies are all enemies in other Mario games.

And for some reason don't remember you getting a party that fast, I believe it is slower in the other two games.

I just played for lunch today, and I just got the parakoopa and the Quake Hammer badge before (or in, I don't know) Dry Dry Desert.

You are moving on up.
Now unlike TTYD, this game doesn't really break the mold in level design. :p

What do you think of the badges so far?

I haven't bought a single VC game. I still believe that original cartridges are a better deal than some downloaded version.

Hahah, I like them. I also like the visual representation of "experience" in star points, accumulating.

Angrist: Really? I find that all old games look like shit on my HDTV and the Wii rectifies it a lot, simply because it's plugged in by component and running at 480p. I also don't know where I can get all games at a fixed rate of $5-$10, with the added convenience of being able to play without having to get up or hook anything else up. Maybe that's just me. :p

Running off to sushi, but I finished Chapter 2 last night and got the second elder star. I died twice and it really sucked going back through everything. :(
