Okay, since the last one was only aimed at the PC version and a few people posted in there I decided to make a newer and better thread! This game hasnt gotten the attention it deserves on these boards. Hopefully we can get enough people interested to have an official GT game or two.
just let me know if i screw anything up, and for the IDs, or gamertags I dont have just post them in here.

So lets discuss! What do you love? Hate? Wish they had? Which are your fav classes?
The classes I play as most are Scout, Sniper, Engineer. But Im not obtuse to switching to what class our team needs for victory. My favourite map would have to be Gravel Pit, I hate 2Fort but can play it in small doses.
Here are some vids that may help and are just plain fun to watch

Everyone who isn't on the list for any version.
Just post in here and I shall add.
This is truly an awesome game.
And my top 3 classes are generally engineer, medic and random assortment. Use to be spies but people got smart.
As for levels, I enjoy Well because it only shows up so often. It's really special. :D

I've put off playing because my computer was just too slow. However, I just bought the best AGP card that will ever be made, and am reinstalling Windows so more of my minuscule RAM will be free as creep had taken it over. I'm creating several backup images so I don't have to do this all over again, and my new power supply to run the behemoth video card should be in Monday. Hopefully by that time I'll be back on TF2 all the time. I love it.
We should really have a weekly TF2 night over the summer.
Edit: Swan, Fox, BaB, what if we all post times we'll *probably* be available over the summer and agree to a day and time?

I have a question, and I think I already know the answer to it, but it's gonna be asked anyway. Can this game be played split-screen multiplayer? Like Halo 3? You know, a bunch of my buddies and myself could get together and play this online? Probably not right? What a crapload of crap. My roommate bought Unreal Tournament 3, and guess what, you can't even play split-screen offline multiplayer. What kind of multiplayer games are they making these days, geez!

Adding you didn't work.
I absolutely love the toy bedroom level. Maybe it's because I haven't played them much, but I don't really like the bigger levels, they're too confusing.
Half Life 2 had a really slow start. Now that I'm working my way through the sewers with all the soldiers after me, it's starting to get fun. :)

Yeah, this is the only thing about Steam that I hate. I joined Steam when it first came out, and you were required to use your email address as your SteamID. I think. Anyway, to this day they do not allow you to change your SteamID.
So instead of just telling people 'barneyis666', I have to tell everyone that it's 'barneyis666 at y---o.c--' except in proper email format with the -s replaced with the correct letters of that well-known email domain.
Me and my friend figured out the best stratedgy ever. And the stupidest.
When we were on defense on Dustbowl today we decided to both be medics. We only healed each other and played with an offensive stratedgy. And we kicked ass.

I arrive home tomorrow, so I will be up for some TF2 nights asap. Although I might want to start, play, and finish GTA IV first.
Perhaps we could have some GTA IV multiplayer nights?

Well from what ive played, its pretty fun. For example yesterday Babs, myself and a friend of mine were playing with 2 others we didnt know. The 3 of us sorta ganged up on the other two and we had some good battles. One moment stood out though. Babs was fighting the two guys and was in need of help so my friend and I flew over in a helicopter. I killed one of the guys gunning out of the back of the chopper while we landed picked up Babs and made our break for it. Other notables included throwing molotov cocktails at a helicopter, throwing grenades out of your moving car only to have the people following you blow up, and everyone camped out at happiness island trying to last with 6 stars. Yeah its pretty fun.
Yeah, I quite enjoy hunting tourists on Happiness island.

I didn't know which thread to bump, but this is just getting sad for 360 owners.
"Team Fortress 2 Scout Update Coming Next Tuesday, First Unlock Revealed
Valve today announced that the anticipated Scout-centric update to Team Fortress 2 will be released next Tuesday, February 24.
In anticipation of the update, Valve has launched a website to tease the Scout's upgrades.
The first weapon revealed is "The Sandman," a "highly collectible bat that smacks baseballs at the other team, stunning the living crap outta anybody dumb, slow, drunk, mute or Australian enough to get in the way."
The bat allows players to fire a baseball at enemies. The further the ball flies, the longer it stuns an enemy."

Ah that's my favorite part of sniping. :p Nothing beats dropping a headshot on your equal from across dustbowl coming out of the opening gate.
I think I'm approaching some kind of Sniper Karmic Balance myself, where all of my failures combined across the other classes are culminating in the most ridiculously lucky, unexpected, and undeserved headshots I could ever hope for.

no more sad than it already has been. the game is a pc game, the only reason it was ported to 360 was to earn some extra money from those that dont play on pc.
and they're going to update every class before 360 even has a chance at the updates. because for 360, you'd have to pay for the update (not valves choice)
which honestly is a stupid idea to give 360 players the update at all at that point. because if some buy it, some done, you're splitting up the already small userbase on 360, and it will be harder to find matches.
as for the updates itself. i wish they'd hurry up and get the lame classes out of the way. (i expect spy next) and get to the good ones... sniper / demo / soldier :D

But I don't understand, how can they provide free updates for L4D? Did Microsoft change their policy?
maybe they've talked MS into it since.
altho the updates for TF2 would be FAR FAR FAR greater in size than that of l4d.
not sure if size has any thing to do with it. or maybe they can do it free but still are going to wait till they're all finished.

I couldn't disagree with you more. While the usergroup on the 360 is comparatively small, when considering how long ago it came out it has a far larger user base than many other on-line games of similar age. But lets keep the word "small" in perspective. The Orage Box has sold close to 2 million console copies if not more. The platform is not something to be ignored because it's a "PC Game", whatever that means anymore.
Also, its 360 user base is very LOYAL. People play is DAILY. If you were to release the updates to the 360 and charged for them, I doubt it would split the user base at all, and most are rabid hardcore fans who are salivating for these updates and are willing to pay $10 for them.
In the end, the problem here is a lack of imagination. All Valve and Microsoft would have to do is develop a subscription system that would allow gamers to sign up for Orange Box/TF2 updates and then download them as they became available for a one time $10 fee, or have each update cost $2 a piece or so and download them ala carte.
In the eyes of many TF2 fans, both Valve and Microsoft come out looking bad, and a reasonable solution should have been derived a long time ago.
last i read, valve was pretty dead set on the updates being free.
and even so (while i do disagree with you on some of that, we'll leave it be) the fact is valve will still want to wait till they're all done before doing anything of an update on consoles. and to be honest, if the console users do get the updates, they would probably be better off getting them at the end.
a lot of this is more like a testing phase on pc. these updates cause balance issues, and render opposing classes much less effective until they get the update of thier own. then things are getting tweeked and changed with little updates after.
plus when they come out you get EVERYONE picking that class, which ruins the matches. fortunately on PC you can set servers to limit classes. so say a spy update comes out, instead of having 30 spies running around, you can limit them so only 4 on each team are allowed. (or less or more) As far as i know, you cant do that on consoles can you?
but if consoles do get the updates and valve works out a payment plan, i dont see it happening till after they've finalized these

The updates drove me away from playing TF2 online. After the Pyro update was 2 or 3 days old, I was wondering how people had fully upgraded characters. I just assumed some people are just "really good" or that Valve had been keeping tabs on stats the whole time.
I later found out that people have created "achievement servers" where you can go and just kill some bots on easy or something and get full achievements. I think it defeats the whole point of the system, and I think Valve should release the updates but get rid of the unlocking system.
Yup. A few bad apples ruins them all...
The thing is, I don't feel like stooping down to the "achievement server" level. And I know that I am better than a lot of these players...because A) I'm an arrogant prick, but B) I was pretty damn good at being a Spy/Soldier when I was playing TF2 consistently.
Having said that, I've returned to playing Counter-Strike because I found a good server with a good community. I plan on getting back into TF2, but it is lame as hell with the updates.
point of the achievements isnt to keep people from having the upgrades though.
for some people they like having to hunt those things down and having something to play for. others just like it to be open and just play the game.
more power to ya either way. that part doesnt really bother me as its pretty easy to unlock what you want to. i just dont bother for the classes i dont use. and i only play on 1 or 2 servers so dont care to find an achievement server.
there was a command to put in console that unlocked everything. many did that for the pyro update, but they patched that command shortly after.
the sandwich so far is the only one that seems worth using though. the krits on medic is sometimes useful, depending on who is using it. pyros alt is pretty much a downgrade now that they took out the bonus health. the added airburst on the default flame thrower is FAR FAR more useful than trying to get behind them.
as long as they keep releasing new maps with the updates, then the updates are great. the pay load gametype is my favorite. and thats all because of the updates. and im still hoping for engbat when the engy update comes out :D come onnnn engbat! :)
of course finding a good server with people that respect each other is key for any game. i cant stand anymore CS though, wish they'd just do the CS2 already. hehe

last i read, valve was pretty dead set on the updates being free.
Well then this entire problem falls in the laps of Valve. It's not like Microsoft's business plan of charging for every major upgrade is anything new. Valve knew this when they started developing for the Xbox so they should get off their high horse and act like adults, IMO. A deal is a deal.
As for waiting until they can upgrade everything at once, I see you're point, but in the end I think the addition of ala carte upgrades would lend more to continued interest and waiting so long just frustrates your 360 players, as they look at every update for the PC version as a slap in their face. People will only wait so long, and I can tell you most 360 players I've talked to are not blaming Microsoft for this and are willing to thrown down some cash for added playability, if only for new maps.
As foor unbalanced games, well, have you ever played on the 360? Every game is unbalanced because 3/4 of the players outright SUCK. They can all play with the Sandvich all they like, I'll still brain `em with my wrench.

And ill still axe them some questions.
But I think Valve was waiting for at least half of the character updates to be done before they were going to put it on 360. But it will probably just be delayed some more.
But 360 seriously needs to get some better players. Sure its fun kicking ass, but I like a challenge every once in a while.
