It might just be. I kind of like it, as long as I doesn't annoy anyone else too much.

I think it's a good idea. But the real question is, do the new guys like it? Cheez-Its, your thoughts?

Aladuf? Sestren? Grammaton? IamNOTleGend? Beuler?

Oh, and welcome, addiemac, to GT!

Of those, only Aladuf and Cheez seem to be mainstays. Sestren pops in and out. And don't think seen last two.

I find it rather humorous. Especially when the targeted person never posts and we just wind up using their welcome thread for meaningless, random discussions.

I think the hope is that if they pop by and see their name in a welcome topic they'll be encouraged to post, and then continue posting.

I enjoyed it! I thought it was pretty damn cool to have a thread welcoming me. I think I had posted once only before that but I came into that thread and just joined in.... before it was deleted! haha

And, Welcome addiemac. I haven't been here too long but I'd really like to see this place pick up some steam. There's some pretty cool folks here. :D

It's too intimidating for them. And it sounds like we need them too desperately. IMO. :)

Well what were were doing wasn't working and welcome threads got us two active posters. So a little desperation goes a long way.

My thoughts in starting this trend was to turn would-be lurkers into active posters.

Yeah, since the welcome threads have come around good things.

Actually within the past month or so activity has seemed to pick up quite a bit

For some reason, I have always felt that you were a part of this forum even before you joined.

I feel this strange bond with Cheez-its and I can't quite explain it. I've felt it ever since April Fool's day.
