What police now say caused the Alfred University lockdown was a game played by students with the kind of toys six-year-olds play with.
An Alfred faculty member reported seeing a gunman on campus around 3:30 p.m. Tuesday. Police investigators later realized that the gun observed was merely a Nerf dart gun.
More than 50 students were apparently playing a campus wide game of something called Humans vs. Zombies where teams split up and, using the toys, play a soft contact version of tag..
Team members wear red bands on their heads and their arms.
Students fear the incident will bring publicity to the university and the game.
