I looked at my join date: 05-15-2001

Let's see..7 years ago. 7 years ago I was only 16. SIXTEEN! >.> So much has happened, and still, some things have not changed even from that timeframe.

I started on forums related to this one in what.... '99? '00?
Nintendodolphin... .net was it? Then Nintendose...

People like dropping those names once every couple of years... Fun times.

~13-14 years of age...
Crazy...

Yeah, I remember Nintendose also, that's where I came from. Didn't it split into AGB and GT? or something of that. I remember it splitting when it's downfall came.

yep, AGB and GT...
Fella by the name of Goombastomper was one of the main advocates for AGB... I forget who actually ran it, though...
"Going from a forum focused on home console gaming to one focused on a hand-held? Poppycock!", I said...

Of course this one started out with Crash and good ol' CamFu.
If it weren't for their expertise and leadership, and Neo's determination to hold it together through tough times, GameTavern might not be the hole in the wall that it is today.

Yeah never did find the reason for the falling out.
I don't know anyone.

But I knew AGB people hated coming here.

Now one site is dead and the other is on life support.

If we had remained as one, I would have been leader in no time.

And let's see... late 99/00 I think for me. And won't bother doing the age thing, I feel old as it is.

I remember joining around the Nintendose days...2000 I think. Certainly been around for long enough. Finally creeping up to near 5000 posts after 8 long years. I remember the whole AGB split being a huge deal. For a while I posted at both, but I can't do multiple forums. Too much work.

I'll just keep on the GT ship until it goes down.

Fun stuff.

'99 when I joined nintendodolphin.net, I was 13 years old - unbelievable.. I've known some of you longer than my current oldest friends (I usually "shed" friends, leaving old ones behind :))
AGB was run by Skouby Doo or something, I think. And somehow I think I remember his name and saw him on Facebook (never sent him a message though)..

Yikes. Yeah, that would be me, too, which would put me at 13 years-old when I joined. I think, anyway. I remember I was part of nintendodolphin.net, but I don't remember if I joined right when it started or what. I guess I found it after I heard about the codename for Gamecube, probably from Nintendo Power or Gamepro (wow, it's been awhile), and I guess I probably Yahoo!ed it (I don't think I used Google at the time). Who started that original site, anyone know?

I also think it's strange that you and I have some of the fewest posts while being two of the longest community members. Were you in Turkey the whole time, btw?

Wow, I did a Google search for "nintendodolphin.net" and this old thread (http://www.gametavern.net/forums/archive/index.php/t-595.html) is the first listed. I had forgotten about this name I used before switching to manasecret. I think I switched because I realized how much of a douche name thehtownpoption was, back from my junior high wigger days. Ah gods what embarrassing memories.

Going to drop some names:
GameKinG
The_Dunadan
D-realJos
LoudHowardZERO

Ha, and guess who I got a private message from?? Hint: it's name is Patricia.

I always think about that too - and I sometimes even feel that I'm posting too much. But when I sit down and think (and yes, I've sat down and thought about this :)), I'm usually a quiet person who likes to observe and listen (or let my mind wander and try to find some nice looking girls around :)), and therefore, my character affects my post count directly. :)

And yes, I've been in Turkey the whole time.

I'm old as well. Joined here on 9/10/2001, day before the terrorist attacks. I also remember nintendolphin.net and having to change the name to Nintendose. I'm not sure exactly when I joined nintendolphin. I know it was when I was looking for information on the then next-gen consoles and yahoo'd it. I was a Playstation fanboy at the time. I thought Microsoft was the worst thing that could ever happen to gaming. My how times have changed.

I joined GT on 4/16/2001. I remember I came over from Nintendose, one day I visited and found out they were shutting it down. I talked to someone on AIM I believe, and got the story about the AGB vs. GT thing. I picked GT for no other reason than it sounded better. And here I am today...

I wonder how many posts Deathshand would have if like half our posts hadnt got deleted a few years ago?

I also found this thread about the first ever Survivor: http://www.gametavern.net/forums/archive/index.php/t-6.html

I joined NDose around November/December 2000 (I was 13)... then moved to GT. I also lurked around AGB but I just stuck here. Now here we are... and I am 20 years old. Weird

And as Germy (or was it Haas the Spinto?) said, I'll probably hang around til this place is dead.

Joined Nintendose in May 2000, which must have been the launch month, because I had joined Nintendodolphin.net before that.

I've quit a few times, but I keep coming back.

09-04-2001....but I was registered to AGB before I came here.

yep, AGB and GT...
Fella by the name of Goombastomper was one of the main advocates for AGB... I forget who actually ran it, though...
"Going from a forum focused on home console gaming to one focused on a hand-held? Poppycock!", I said...

AGB was run by Jordan (Goombastomper) and some other douche, Vincent. The GBA was awesome, it made up for the Gamecube's averageness :p

But I knew AGB people hated coming here.

I didn't hate coming to Gametavern...it was just daunting because this board at one point was getting over 100 posts a day, and that's a lot of stuff to read. AGB had a smaller more liberal community, kinda like this place is now. Either way, it's all good.

Forums...a true testament to how much of a nerd you can be.

the last thing i remember is getting fired from AGB (from memory because i took a planetgamecube article and directly copied it pretty much) and gametavern fading out. then i look today and it's still going. and deathshands is still posting. what the hell.

and i saw zen! i still have his guitar samples he sent me years ago, they are still incredible, what can you do now zen?

Fez, its been quite a while, to be honest ive gotten really rusty with my guitar playing so I am not any better than i used to be, in fact, I may be a lil worse now than I used to be :P

Are you still practicing taekwondo? I still am but I retired from doing it at a competitive level.

Fez2
04-10-2008, 07:00 AM
Nah man. I stopped when I moved out of home. Attended a club or two, but they were pretty lame, and most clubs seemed to be a mixture of lazy patterns and form stuff and flashy but no substance tournament fighting. So I let it go for a while, and now I've changed a lot, and really not into fighting. Sure it's self defence, but it's still practicing to fight, to kill, whereas I would rather put my mind to something more complex and relavent to the time we're living in right now.

EDIT: Thanks for the welcome guys, it is quite surreal to say the least..

EDIT2: Cheese-it: I honestly don't remember, but I suspect rampant trolling, judging by a post I read in some archive that I found this forum through.

I was a writer for GamingNow whenever there was that short merger between GT and GN, then GamingNow kind of died, but I stayed here and went on to write for gamexc.com, which also died.

Still had some fun times with them though.

Ah yes, I'd totally forgotten about that merge. :) It wasn't half bad for a merge, they usually cause big problems.
