I already beat the 2D portal, though it's still fun.

The one thing I really like about Valve is they let Kim Swift be the designer. I would fully expect a company who buys the rights to your game to leave you in entry-level positions and have more experienced staff take over the direction of the project. With Valve, that wasn't the case. 4 students were hired out of DigiPen, and made up half of the 8-person team that developed Portal. Bravo, Valve, Bravo.

Hopefully, it will be just as good.

To me a lot of the fun in the original came with the character of GLaDoS. (spoiler) since you destroyed her, I wonder if the new one can keep some of that witty, quirkey feel that was priceless.

deBlob was created by some Dutch students. THQ bought the project and I don't think the students are on the team.

Maybe should close up your spoilers.

Anyhow don't you know. She's still alive. ;)

Portal was short and refined. That translated to a game that held my attention and kicked ass. If Portal was longer I think I still would have beat it, because Portal is hands down the best 3D puzzle game. The added challenges added replay and sealed the deal.

Up until Portal, Pikmin was the last truly exciting 3D game I had played.

That said, cheers to Portal 2!
