And it is quite the story.

Wii 519K
Nintendo DS 458K
Xbox 360 366K
PSP 286K
PlayStation 2 184K
PlayStation 3 121K

Halo 3 proved to be quite the bump for the 360 in Sept but it seems like it was not much else. I mean Nov and Dec can prove me completely wrong.

Wii crushes the competition on a somewhat better Oct than their Sept release. DS is actually behind it by a bit which is quite telling. Don't know if for Wii or DS.

Ps3... well apparently.. the latest price drop won't be reflected until Nov so we shall save that for later.

Software proved to be a predictable story.

Halo fell off but that was to be expected. Overall for a game that sold 3.3 million in it's first month, I think the number is respectable.

GH III doing well across platforms is not bad at all. And at least shows the Wii audience is willing to buy 3rd party stuff.
Also the number is a bit misleading as the Ps2 one is split across two SKUs.
So total sales for it are
Ps2> 360> Wii
I'm not sure if there was a Ps3 version?

Good to see the Orange Box doing well. It really is a terrific package. And the best deal in gaming right now.

Here are some more numbers...


NR Guitar Hero III: Legends of Rock (PS3) 105,800
NR Final Fantasy Tactics: The War of the Lions (PSP) 98,100
NR Ratchet & Clank Future: Tools of Destruction (PS3) 74,500

I guess there was a PS3 version of GH III.
Also, ouch at Ratchet and Clank which was out for about 2 weeks for this.
It is a damn fine looking game. Would say doesn't bode well for platformers, but looks like Galaxy may top the charts this month.

it gives you feedback when you get full star power.

does your guitar have star power and light all the notes up blue when its full and you tilt it up? thats why. :)

perhaps if you didnt buy such a cheap guitar, your guitar would also be as realistic as a guitar hero guitar..... i mean.. i bet your guitar doesnt even have buttons, probably has those cheap strings. ha!

I'm not even sure if Null is being sarcastic or not anymore.

Anyhow, Metroid Prime 3 did about 45k for the month.

Think it sits at around 400k total for the year. Not that great.

Uhh... no. It's split over a lot more than that. At a minimum:

Xbox 360 Game only
Xbox 360 Wireless Guitar
Xbox 360 Wired Guitar
Wii Wireless Guitar
PS3 Wireless Guitar
PS2 Game Only
PS2 Wireless Guitar

However, Target stocked exclusive versions of all the bundles, which I believe have their own SKU. I've also seen stores advertising a dual wired guitar bundle for PS2 which is likely another.

Let me clarify my point.
I was just stating at face value the Wii bundle seems to have outsold all but the 360 version but when you look at combine totals for the PS2 bundled/non-bundled SKU it actually adds up to more.

It doesn't matter how many of these bundles exist, just that PS2>Wii

It's sad that MP3 didn't do better. Maybe it will do better in Europe, but I doubt it. It's just a niche game: too difficult for casuals, too different for hardcores.

Nintendo's Marketing is pretty terrible. I have yet to see a Super Mario Galaxy TV ad, and their Wii commercials suck. Those Xbox and PS3 commercials are just plain awsome, Nintendo's are a joke in comparison.



360 commercials are quite good... ps3's i havnt been very fond of.. have they given up on the floating ps3 in the white room yet?

Yeah they have.
Sadly, they have let to find a perfectly fine way to advertise the PSP.

I've seen the Galaxy commercial over a bunch of random shows, but Wii commercials are weird. They have interesting music though.

Yeah, there's a Mario Galaxy ad. It's in the style of the others. This time, it shows random people in a theater playing Mario Galaxy on the Theater screen showing random clips of gameplay. It works pretty well.
