Hey guys long time no talk,

my friend's been having an interesting issue with his pc. About a week ago it started to refuse booting up, this in itself isn't really that peculiar, what is is that the computer, instead of using its on board speaker on the motherboard to beep at us, instead is routing a signal through the speakers saying something along the lines of "System failure, VVA test". Now the sound quality isn't that great, it may be BVA or VBA or EVA or something else along those lines. The screen is staying blank, not showing any signs of motherboard booting, it seems weird to me that this is just a motherboard failure because the motherboard itself has plenty of diagnostic tools on board to deal with getting the point across to the user what the problem is. If anyone has any idea please help.

Thanks in advance guys.

The motherboard talks?? Umm.. I've never had this problem. To get to the bottom of which part is causing the problem, you'll have to pull out each part and put it in another working computer to see if that part is the problem. Just keep doing that until you narrow the problem down.

But, it sounds like your mobo needs to be replaced. Check out this link: (Note, when the page first loads you have to wait a few seconds for the ad they display to go away)

The guy had a similar error "System failure, CPU test" and after narrowing it all down figured out it was a bad mobo.

Google "System failure, CPU test" and you'll get lots of results.

He has a talking motherboard for diagnostic purposes. Not rare, exactly, but not particularly common either.

As for the error he's getting, you could try what manasecret suggested. There are also diagnostic cards you can get.

I like dealextreme for the price, but shipping takes forever.

Elsewise, try unplugging all components from the motherboard and plugging them back in. It could always be something loose.
