So i was at work sitting on the couch avoiding my technician duties (yes thats why it takes so long for your computer to be fixed because we watch tv instead), i dont often watch TV....i dont really enjoy but i watched Major league Gaming, so at work on the 360 i started playing halo and gow, and i have to come define that i think console controllers are way to damn constricting. computers combination of widespread keyboard and mouse is a more efficient and fantastic use of technology. What do the rest of you think? Console controllers constrict the amount of efficiency or just challenge in a different way from PC games?

Controllers work better for most games in my opinion. I don't want to play a platformer or racer with a keyboard.

I'm trying to find a cheapish TV so I can pick up console gaming again. Too many good Wii games coming out.

Like most everything, it depends on design. If a computer game relies too much on "hotkeys", letter/number assignments and 50 different tiny buttons to press to play the game well, then its lost me. I find console controllers tend to achieve fluid gaming at a greater rate than keyboard and mouse.

Control should be simple and intuitive. IMO, if I can't figure out efficient and artful use of controls in 30 minutes, regardless of platform, the game is a failure. There is nothing worse than fighting both the game AI and poorly designed key assignments on a PC game. The less button to push, the better.

The PC is way better for First Person Shooters, as well as most simulation games like SimCity. In my opinion, there is really no arguing that point.

That being said, a controller usually works better for everything else.

I think that sims/strtegy games are by far the best on PC, but I have to disagree with FPS games. In the end, though, I think thats more about the difference in taste when it comes to FPS's. I like the keyboard better for the purely fast twitch style games like Quake, Doom, etc.

But hen it comes to FPS games that take a lot of strategy and involve a lot of story, like Halo, Call of Duty, etc. I have to ay I like consoles' ergonomic controllers better. They allow for more immersive gameplay without the danger of key-fumbling over crouch, lean, reload, etc.

Then again I have big ass hands that tend to fumble over keys a lot, so it might just be me.

Well you have a point there. I find it more relaxing to play through a story on my couch, with a controller in my hands. I can't imagine playing Golden Eye and Perfect Dark on a PC, but I'm glad that I played Half-Life on it.

I guess the Wiimote with proper programming solves the dilemma. :D
