So thanks to the kind folks at Nintendo World Store, I was able to pick up Metroid Prime 3: Corruption.
Right now playing through the intro chapter. No real impressions yet.
But does have a lot to scan. Always been a fan of that for some reason.

I got past what I guess could best be considered an extended Prologue of the game and made it past the first objective of er... the first major Planet. Trying to keep it vague here.
So far
The controls work pretty well. As noted in some reviews, turning is a bit slow since you have to leave cursor at the edge of the screen for the most part but other than that aiming works great. Really does prove the whole Wiimote concept.
However, I think the little additions are the most interesting. Some of it is a bit jarring as sometimes the wiimote controls her left while other times the nunchuk does. But the grapple lasso is probably one of the simplest but best implementions of motion controls. it's a really simple feature but having it accessible at all times and the motion involved just adds so much to the experience.
I don't want to say too much as I believe only one with the game so far.
Wait until more folks get.
Also the achievement system is somewhat cool but very unnoticable. You only realy know the ones for kills and bosses. The ones who scanning don't really explain if for scanning certain objects or a certain %. I think you get for scanning enemies not sure though.

Did you also get some of those extra perks along with the game like nintendo.com said you're supposed to?

Wasn't one of the first 100 people sadly.
Has no one else bought this game?
Anyhow, I think well so far the game is pretty damn awesome.
The motion controls other than aiming aren't overused but used enough to really improve the game.
May have mentioned this before, but love the grapple lasso/hook that's in the game. Not only is it multipurpose, but it's also fun to use.
Just found a new use for it which won't explain so don't spoil for anybody.
Also interacting with locks and doors again a simple task that's just made a little better with the motion controls. Which other than pointing at the screen and moving forwarrd (which apparently is a motion I just suck at in general or doesn't work in many Wii games) they seem to go off without a hitch or me fighting the controls.
The bosses are huge and so far with the exception of one all pretty kickass.
Some of the mini-bosses are cool, but don't seem as challenging.
And some of the environments are well beautiful I guess.
Probably seen videos of SKytown which looks awesome especially when using a certain feature.
I'm about 20% into the game or so.. I blame work... but it's shaping up to be an excellent game.

I got it, but haven't had much chance to play it. The cinematic quality is a lot better than the last one.

I never played through a lot of next gen Metroid because I thought the level design was confusing, but mostlly because I felt the HUD was needlessly over designed. Ther were too many targeting reticles and pops and flashing things and I felt it took away from the beautiful environements they created.
Plus, I'm partially colorblind and all that activity gives me raging headaches. Have they toned the HUD down since then or no?

They made it even more confusing with the addition of a map and stuff.
Haha but you can turn down the opacity of the HUD to the point where can't really see anything.
No kidding, they GIVE you hud opacity and visor opacity options. I personally turn them both down to 50 and even 0 in some places.
Anyways, I got the game, and I'm enjoying the fuck out of it on my new Sharp Aquos. Mmmmm.

Well I've got to say without saying too much
That.. well the game gets a lot better.. which is hard to believe once hit Skytown
And boy o boy was there a bad ass boss battle.
Only less impressive than the actual reason you find the boss.

Im about 20% in and its awsome so far. The level designs are just so great, not many games where you want to continue just to see the awsome areas they make next. Ive been totally impressed so far, but I wont be able to play more til next weekend because im back to school.

I picked up the game, I've been playing on and off for the past couple days. I'm at 82% or something with ~12 hours of play-time. Overall the game just feels really polished. They really put a lot of time into it and it's very smooth and shiny (and gritty dirty, depending on the zone). It's very obviously a Metroid Prime game, but at the same time it plays more straightforward.
Travel is much better with the galactic map, and when you've completed an objective there's almost always a new shortcut to get you back on the road so you can find your next. I think a lot of people will confuse the game for being shorter than the other two Primes, but in reality I think they just cut out a lot of the time it takes for errand running. There's just less crap in the middle to split up your gameplay, which makes for a more cohesive and immersive experience.
From a technical standpoint, I think Corruption is only impressive in that it's a really good looking Wii game. The bloom lighting and improved particles/textures look good, and the locked 60 frames a second (in all but a few short-lived exceptions) are really great - but some models are still a bit blocky and there's no bump mapping in sight.
From an artistic standpoint, Corruption stands among the most impressive games I've ever played. It may in fact be my favorite game in terms of art, namely due to the shear scope it encompasses. There are so many different styles of art fully realized throughout the game.
The controls are tight and responsive. I switched to advanced mode right away (sensitivity) which tightens the dead-zone and increases look speed as your cursor gets to the outer edges of the screen. It really is much more enjoyable to play than a dual analog based setup. My only complaint at this point is a tightness in my right wrist after a few hours of non-stop play (my wrist kept cracking as I needed to pull the wii-mote back to access various panels on the walls).
At any rate, I'm loving every second of it. I'm fairly close to the end I think, so I'm gonna get back to it.
If you're on my friend list and have the game, drop me a line and I'll send you a friend voucher. If you're not on my friend list and have the game, send me a PM and I'll add you and then I'll send you a friend voucher :-p
*Edited playtime, I apparently wasn't paying attention. I'm at 15 hours 15 minutes with 97% completion now, so 14 couldn't have been right at this point.

Weird, I didn't see you as one of the active players on my list when sending out friend vouchers.
But yeah, got vouchers to give away as well.
I actually kind of like how the achievement system is also built into community since you get people on different forums making deals to get friend tokens.
And as an aside, I like that you can exchange the token for stuff.
I got me a Mii Bobblehead in my ship.
And it's decked out with bumper stickers
so my Ship is rolling deep with a Triforce on it's hood.

Yeah, you weren't active on mine either, not sure what that's about. But we've obviously exchanged friend vouchers, so now you lit up on my screen.
Just beat it about 45 seconds ago. The last fight is fun, but I don't know that it's the most difficult in the game. Either way, 90% complete, I'm going back to collect the crap I missed now.

Wait, what is this friend voucher thing? Someone please explain!
Metroid Prime has what can best be described as an Achievement system.
There are 4 types of coins you can get.
Red ones.. which think get for scanning important things
yellow for defeating certain enemies generally bosses
another color which is for scanning enemies but drawing a blank
And then Green Vouchers for certain special feats such as killing 100 enemies, or using Boost ball to kill androids.
Now the Green Vouchers themselves are not worth anything to you. What you have to do is send them to a friend who can then take your voucher and turn it into a Friend Token.
Now with all of these Tokens you are able to unlock certain specials in the game.
case in point, I used my friend vouchers to buy a Mii Bobblehead which is on the cockpit of Samus' ship and Bumper stickers which cleverly enough uses Nintendo games you have on your console so that my ship now has stickers of Excite Truck, Wario Ware, Zelda and Super Paper Mario. My favorite part is the fact that there is a giant Triforce on the nose of the ship.
~Edit~
Just turned on the game
Thanks TML got 5 friend vouchers from you.
Will try my best to get you back the same number but sending to like 5-6 people.

I'm at 97% right now... Just over 15 hours played... I'm going nuts trying to find the last few. And I really want to do it all without a guide my first time through.
Then it's on to 100% on Hypermode when I'm finished.

Why do you feel dirty, it's in the game for a reason haha.
I just.. how do I phrase this without spoiling too much
I just fought a boss from earlier in the game again.
Awesome fight.
But so far all of them have been pretty damn good.

Talking about hard, last weekend I tried to beat Metroid Prime (1) again... In both tries I couldn't kill the boss. :( I must have lost my touch. Also, the way to it is very annoying, with all the Metroid who keep respawning...
I also started in MP2, it's good so far. A bit different than MP1, but I guess that's good. It's not too hard yet, I just got my bombs back from that worm.

84%, 19:47.
Nice ending, though it left me with some questions. I guess I'll search for those last 16 items to get the 100% ending.
Great game.

And Jason, even though Metroid Prime 1 was a great game, I think I enjoyed MP3 more. It just has so much more story and cool extra things. And the controls just own the GameCube one.
I might write a short review of all 3 games, just to compare.
