And I hate to say it, but they're pretty much justified.

I don't understand why they're pissed?

Alright, now I get it:

"In a nutshell, SK claims that Epic used a slicker version of their Unreal Engine for Gears of War and released a hamstringed version to SK and others, in order to show them up at E3. They also failed to release the Gears version until much more recently, SK claims. They also claim that Epic made several very specific statements about what the engine could do, but which it was never able to deliver on including the number of on-screen characters and lighting effects.

The suit is based on a dozen causes of action including fraud, negligent misrepresentation, intentional interference with contractual relations, intentional interference with prospective economic advantage, breach of warranty and a violation of North Carolina's unfair and deceptive trade practices act.

The suit also says that Epic missed the deadlines for providing both the 360 and PS3 engines. Finally, the suit alleges, the SK gave up on the engine and built their own, which is what Too Human use."

Because Epic released the UE3 engine way too early, and a lot of developers were missing out on code for things like 360 optimization, while Epic was doing their own thing with all the licence money they got. SK is claiming that they put the licence money towards Gears of War and UT3. Meanwhile, Epic was releasing their code changes way too late to the rest of the developers, and missing features that they promised.

Developers have been modifying the code to their own needs because of Epic's tardiness, and when Epic finally releases patches, there has to be major overhauls to the game, which is not developer-friendly at all.

In summary: Epic stole our money to make their own game with code we didn't get for more than 6 months. And after all the hubbub, all we got was the Gears of War source code, which didn't help us at all.

8 years... And that's counting it's first public unveiling at E3 '99, not the actual beginning of development...

Yeah, Too Human is a joke, but they need to fucking finish it up so we can get an Eternal Darkness sequel on the Wii.
