Went to an advanced screening last night. Overall the movie was a fun engaging ride, but corny and campy as hell. Can't help but smile as the stupidness of certain situations and lines. Many of the action scenes were beautiful though. The transformers themselves are a pleasure to watch even when not engaged in battle. There is far more human than robot screen time however, but doesn't really detract from the movie. The audience cheered when a transformer they recognized first appeared. Optimus Prime's intro especially. Starscream got the biggest reaction for the Decepticons...but sadly he received hardly any screen time and only had one line of speech which didn't really sound like the Starscream of yore. They had the Xbox 360 game to play in the lobby but I didn't get to try it. The ushers seemed to make a big deal about trying out the game and started the movie a few minutes later to allow for more people to play it. Guess was one of main reasons for the screening. Best part about advanced screening: no commercials before hand. That was lovely. Oh, and free posters. Yay. Not sure if worth your money if you aren't a fan already. Although if are interested in seeing, it's one of those movies that is much better on a big screen.

Saw it, loved it. I never saw the series. I liked the first part of the movie better. The friend I went with did see the series and he preferred the second part.

A movie done right.

Went with a group of 6 people (me included)... I thought it was rather terrible...
I've never seen the show, but a friend of mine who has thought even less of the movie than I did (and made me nervous when he rushed out of the theater the second the credits began to roll, only to find out that the only reason he left was "Just to get out of that theater")...

However, the other 4 (all fans of the show) were all pleased...

So, "4 out of 5 Transformers fans recommend Transformers: The Movie (non-animated)"...

I thought it was cool... but I liked the cartoons as a kid. I don't know if that influences my opinion. There were a lot of corny scenes though.

Did anyone catch that crazy trailer for the movie by J.J. Abrams (LOST!!!)? The trailer was pretty sick and it had the whole LOST feel even though its about a Godzilla-like monster.

I cant find any information on the movie, though. It's known as Untitled J.J. Abrams Project and it is supposed to come out 1/18/08. It's gotten a temporary name though: Cloverfield. I can't find a good quality trailer though... most things I found were ****ty recordings from a theater.

i had a fun time at the show

i liked how the cast took their roles a little less seriously than they could have, it felt like the cast was having just as much fun getting in on the cartoony/campy feel of the movie.

i recommend it and i'd go as far as to say that was the most fun i've had at a movie this summer

I think that's what I appreciated about the movie. Yeah, it was a little questionable at points, but instead of making it ackward, they ran with it and I didn't cringe like I often do with those types of movies (X-Men, Spiderman, etc.).

I'm going to see this tonight with the ladyfriend. I hope it's as good as everyone says it is.

maybe i would have enjoyed transformers less if i had higher expectations...back when they announced a transformers movie i literally thought "oh that's going to suck"

i guess i was really wrong! on the other end of the table was spiderman 3....i literally thought "ohhh...venom....sweet." and they really f*cked that up.

ratatouille was really really good too, i just got out of that...it was definitely a better movie than transformers but if you're looking for giant robots blowing stuff up don't cut yourself short. and Shia is an awesome actor, he was very entertaining in the first half of transformers

Megan Fox was a bit too hot. She was looking so good that it wasn't realistic and I didn't really care about her.

I did think she looked a little old for the part, but I looked it up, and she's my age apparently. Weird.

She's still smoking either way.
