I just went on the YouTube homepage and was scrolling down the list of featured videos and saw a Spinto Band video for a song called Brown Boxes. Pretty impressive feat to get a featured video on there with the millions of videos they get every day.

The video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hlytDzSQr9E

Yeah, this has gotten our video over 100,000 views which is pretty crazy...

My favorite comment of the bunch...

"Great...A bunch of ***gots fighting a **** monster."

Yeah, people hate us.

No, people on Youtube hate, period.

My brother's really good on guitar for his age, and he put up a video of him playing Tender Surrender, and he got people saying he hated him and wanted him to die. What the ****, youtube? I've heard random people say to me that the last year of their life was spent watching videos. I honestly think hater comments are the norm since so many people are on there. They just want attention.

I found it hilarious that in the Mountains video, that woman is playing with her "little man in the boat".

Heehee.

No, people on Youtube hate, period.

So true, and I don't understand it. Online video gamers are notorious for hating as well. I love to play Counterstrike still, but the amount of rampant hatred, sexual bigotry, and racism that I hear and read on the CS severs is ****ing scary, and makes playing a whole lot less fun.

Anyway, I love the video! Though the first time I clicked on it, I got like a minute and half in and still hadn't heard any music I liked, so I stopped paying attention and missed it. Then today I clicked on one of the other YouTube live Spinto videos which started with the music, and I liked it so much I went back and gave it another shot. Makes me wish I hadn't missed y'all in New Orleans!

I've noticed that anytime anybody covers a song by any band in any way, nobody likes it (granted most of the time a random person covers a song on youtube, it's crap... Especially if they attempt to sing)...

UNLESS the 'anybody' covering the song is another well-known and hip band...
In which case you get fans of the original band complaining about the cover, and fans of the cover band complaining about the fans of the original's complaints...

But I think the main lesson here is that you can't please everybody all the time, and right now all those people are on Youtube...

Hey Germy... I'm not really proud of the following story, but maybe you are!

I downloaded your album from a Dutch DC++ student hub! That means that people actually KNOW you in Holland! :D

I was surprised. :) What are the bands thoughts on illegal downloads by the way? Insulted that people (like me :() are stealing from you, or glad that at least you're getting publicity?

I hope people know us in Holland...We've played Amsterdam three times now!

I don't know...Illegal downloading isn't such a big deal for a band on our level...It just means that more people will probably hear your music whether they buy it or not. For more popular bands I'm sure it hurts sales rather badly.

You did Amsterdam without telling me?! Tell me next time, I might come. :)

Will do. One time the show was sold put because we were opening up for a more popular band (The Kooks) but the other time it was alright. I think my misspoke though, we played in Amsterdam twice and once in Rotterdam for a festival in the summer. My guess is that if we make it back it won't be until sometime next year.

I just found a song that reminded me of the Spinto Band: Bright Eyes - A Perfect Sonnet. Do you know these guys?

Yeah, Bright Eyes has been around for a while. Don't know them personally but know a couple of guys who used to tour with Connor Oberst and such.
