If you want a unique tattoo, the best is to not ask other people an come up with it on your own, and place it in an area most people avoid.

Also, if your birthday is in the summer, or spring (opposed to soon) you might want to hold back, if you like beaches. Because you're supposed to keep it out of the sun for a month - so no tanning, and you cant soak it. So no swimming or anything of the sort.

I'll give you advice, dont get anyone else to come up with ideas for one.
Come up with some on your own, and show the person at the tattoo place. They CAN change it around, or you can just give them your idea and they'll work off that. It is their job and all.

A tattoo is (relatively) permanent, and it's best to at least make sure you want it, and it means something.

This would be the best tattoo ever.

get your date of birth in binary, that's better than a triforce or the linux crap

Is the option of simply not getting a tattoo still up in the air? It seems to me that people get a tattoo to be different, but so many people get tattoos that you'd actually be more different by not getting one.

good point, it seems like getting a tattoo is pretty trendy these days, i'm content not getting a tattoo

i dont want one to be different I just want one to say hey look this "tattoo here" is a big part of my life, so big that it is engraved into my skin...Zelda would be cool but thats not really true, linux is more because i love what it stands for.

I wanted to get a tattoo since I was in middle school. My mind changes so often though that I doubt I'll ever be able to get something I'll like for the remainder of my years. And then there's the addiction factor. Almost everyone I know who has one wasn't satisfied with the one and kept going back.

The binary idea sounds cool but just be sure it's something you really want and not a spur of the moment decision.

That's what I was going to say. I change my mind on things -- my worldview you might say -- probably every other month. Well... I'm exaggerating a bit, but my thoughts on different things in life have definitely changed numerous times since I was 17, and I'm only 22 and still in college. I can only imagine how my thoughts will change as I join real life.

But that's just me. It does seem like that a lot of people I know are much more dead-set on their views than I am.
