I don't know if you guys have seen this trailer yet, but it looks pretty cool.

Not many people raved about the first Fantastic Four.

Silver Surfer is portrayed as quite a bad ass though. I always thought he was a 'good guy'. Maybe he's just confused in this part though.

I'm looking forward to it. I enjoyed the first movie. Even if it wasn't a "masterpiece", it was still good fun. This movie could be tricky, though. Its introducing one hell of a storyline, and one that involves a certain gigantic devourer of worlds, known as Galactus. Its going to tough to pull this off, but if they succeed, it will be one wild ride.

i only saw about 3/4's of the first one as it was being shown in one of the student commonrooms but i thought it was terrible.

agree fully. the first was just miserable to watch. i cant imagine them improving the 2nd THAT much better. but i'll give it it a decent chance. maybe they actually came up with a good storyline this time.

Well for one.. that mini scene showed more action than most of the first movie.
Two, won't have to spend as much time on origins and dealing with their powers.

My view is.. I hate x1.. but x2 is leagues ahead of it.
I have high hopes for this one

more action doesnt make better movie. i want a actual solid STORYLINE, not just meaningless action.

thats why first movies are usually better. (not always) but the first in a series (done well) has solid character development, a good storyline, and then action when needed. the 2nd in the series often forgets those things and just goes for the action that wasnt in the first.

sometimes the 2nd gets it right tho. but often it ends up like matrix 2 and 3. leaving out everything that made the original good. :P

in this movies case tho... it would be hard to do a whole lot worse then the first.

The Jurassic Park trilogy is a great example of that. First had it all, story, characters, mystery, action, adventure. The second just had action, adventure and a bit characters.
The thirds tried to bring a bit more story into it, but it wasn't enough.

Speaking of which, weren't they working on JP4?

Well I see that rule works in most movies, but sometimes I feel its just the opposite. Namely in comic movies.

They spend so much time explaining the origins of the character that there usually isn't room for a major plot just some villian to thwart.

The second one opens up a lot of potential for a better plot because we know how the characters got there. And really there first major threat.

Just look at how Doc Ock was builded up in comparison to Green Goblin.

You beat me to it. Both Spiderman 2 and X-Men 2 were superior to the originals. I have guarded hopes for this movie, but then again it involves a character that I LOVE, namely the Surfer. If it does well, then maybe SS can get his own movie, and then we'll get to see the bassest Marvel villian EVER...

Thanos of Titan. Casting him wuld be a BITCH, though.
