What was yours?

For me it was between Zelda and FFXII. Zelda was awesome, like really awesome, but I think I'm giving it to FFXII. I've never seen a game so detailed, so rich in design and story; it really was beyond anything I've ever seen in an RPG.

I really need to pick FFXII up again. Perhaps I'll start today.

I really need to pick up FFXII period.
One of the number of games I've purchased, but havn't touched except to take off the plastic wrap...

I also need to finish Zelda, seeing as how I bought it at launch and I'm only just about to start the third dungeon...

Game of the year? I HAAAVE NOOOO GAME OF THE YEAAAAR!!

I sold my PS2.......traded it in for AU$100 when I bought the Wii, which is pretty good considering I bought the PS2 on launch and it's really old. You can buy the new PS2's now for AU$160.

I wanna play FFXII. So maybe i'll buy another ps2.

Game of the Year. Well for me it's Zelda:TP. But keep in mind I haven't played GOW, or FFXII.

I'm now up to the mirror of twilight, gotta go to some snowy peak area.

I havent played FFXII in about a month and a half, but it's still epic.
That gets my vote.

...I think the only game I've played this past year that came out in 2006 was New Super Mario Bros.

First half of Zelda TP. :p Second half wasn't nearly as good.

I really enjoyed Zelda: TP.

I like Final Fantasy XII a lot. But battle feels like it doesn't absorb the player at all. Maybe I didn't play enough. But I guess I like to do more in a battle than just press attack and run around while waiting for my characters to do it on their own.

But the story, graphics, world, etc is pretty amazing. I think they should have adopted a battle system closer to Star Ocean.

I guess Zelda takes my vote.

For me, it's between Gears of War and TP. Although I've only played GoW for less than an hour, it was pretty dang impressive IMO. But I will say TP because I experienced the whole game and was thoroughly impressed.

POSSIBLE SPOILER

....

I thought the 2nd part was phenominal, first part was great, but the 2nd part was my fave. Getting the double hookshot, ball and chain, those fun boss fights......

The only part I didn't like was the water temple, then again i've always not liked the water temples :(

Interesting comment. For some reason, I've always hated water levels in any game. Especially when they became three dimensional. Like in Mario 64 and Sunshine. I get scared!

I have a feeling of fear, and overwhelming anxiety.

BTW Z:TP isn't hard enough!!! Give us harder bosses next time... I want to know what it is like to die on bosses.

The first half of TP had a lot of story and things between dungeons, the second half didn't have that much going on. Sometimes it was just going from dungeon to dungeon.

After I played half of the dungeons, I thought it was the best game ever... after the other half I'm not that sure anymore. Of course it's still very good and 1 of the best.

I very much agree. I think a Master Quest type deal really needs to be released for TP - a revamp of the dungeon difficulty would make almost everybody happy.

I'm loathe to admit I'm just not that impressed with Zelda so far. I don't know if I'm jaded from having played so many games but it just seems like the same old same old to me. Such as when you're jumping from platform to platform in the Goron mines and they have the obligatory lava spouts which you must time your jumps around. The game is also way too easy - I feel like I'm sleep walking through it.

Well, I really think they added a lot of new things. Maybe too much repetition of old stuff? I agree that jumping over lava pits was so boring that I was always looking for the 'real' puzzle of the room.
Other things just made me cry or laugh out loud. :)

when they stray away from the 'zelda style' people complain. and when they do the same people complain. they cant win with everyone.

it did feel a bit like going from dungeon to dungeon in the end. but i used thoes times to go exploring and doing side missions and things before going back to the next dungeon, so it filled up a bit.

there a couple things they added that were really neat. a couple cool weapons. and that hover thingy i really wish they used a lot more in the game because that sweet when it was being used.

not the greatest zelda but definently one of the better ones. at least it kept me playing thro the whole thing. windwaker got me so board around the wind temple and triforce hunt that i stoped playing, and before i knew it years had passed without me finishing it. (altho i finally picked it up and finished it before i started TP)
same with MM, i got so bored at one point i stoped playing. and still have never finished it. (mainly because i'd have to start all over to remember what was going on now)

but i liked the storyline in TP.

problem with making a zelda harder, is the game gets insanly frustrating. not because its hard. but because of not knowing what to do.
theres some bosses that you have to spend a bit of time to figure out how to attack them... and if they were harder, you'd keep dying before you figured out how to beat em. and i really hate using a guide or something for help. but harder to fight and still be able to know how to fight em would be good. need a balance there.

and i miss the cartoon look of WW. i'd like to see this game, with an older link. all in cell shading. :) altho the game does look good anyway.

this one would probably be in my top 5 zelda games.

What sidequests were there? I paid for the bridge, delivired the hot springwater..... that's all I can think of right now. And I 'beated' the minigames very early in the game.

The world is big, but in the end I kept realising it's not thát big... and not much is going on. I wish they would have used the chain where you keep trading items to help people, that was always fun.

i never got that damn spring water... i keep getting it and it pours out at his feet.... same with the other one who wants to drink it. i gave up on that.

I suppose you carried the spring water in just an empty bottle? Won't work. Outside of Malo Mart is the elder Goron with the face tattoos. He'll give you a whole barrel of hot spring water that you then have to carry across that little section of Hyrule field over to the bridge and pour that on the Goron.

I don't know about the anyone wanting to drink the stuff...

Another Goron wants to drink it before it clears some rocks. But you can't get him his water before the shop in Castle Town is reopened.... for which you have to get the first Goron his barrel of hot water. It's annoying with the enemies attacking you or the barrel.... just put it down (grab your bow) and shoot the suckers before they come close. :)

Oh btw, how much time did you play before you beated the game? 55 hours here. I'm now clocked almost at 60, I just run around a lot trying to find stuff.
