Checked gamestop, best buy, circuit city and target. They seem to be sold out everywhere. Though gamestop said there's a slim chance they might get some this Friday, otherwise they're sure they'll have more next week.

Seems pretty Wiiless in Peoria, IL, although I cant say ive been searching too hard, its technically my parents problem anyways because its suppoused to be an X-mas gift for my brother and I. But just tonight I went to Shopko, a pretty obscure store where I got my Gameboy Advance, and not necissairly a place a lot of people would first think to look. I thought maybe I had a chance. Nope. In fact, there was a girl who walked in at the same time I did, walked back to the electronics, saw no Wii's in sight, and walked out. Same as me. So its obviously sought after, and they are going for 500 bucks on Ebay.

Does anyone have any idea when Nintendo plans to have another large shipment out to places? And what places are the best bet to be looking?

Next big shipment everywhere I'd assume will be Black Friday. So if you can get your parents out of bed early, I'd get in line.

I don't understand why eb games would have Wii's on Friday morning. That would imply they will receive a shipment on Thanksgiving but according to the guy I talked to they only get them on Fridays and Mondays, and I know the mail doesn't arrive at 7 am.

I don't see any other option though then to show up at 7 am tomorrow and hope for the best. There are three gamestops close to where I am so I should be able to hit all three of them. One of them is in the mall so I'm banking that they would be the ones most likely to have received more Wii's or to have put a few away for Black Friday.

I worked at a Gamestop (EB now = Gamestop) for two years. They will hold Wii's in the back room for a week if it means that they can get after Thanksgiving sales out that will stimulate add-on purchases (Multiple Sale Transaction - MST - is a popular bragging point for retailers).

So good luck. I can't guarantee anything but I'll call my old manager and see if he's been instructed to hide anything in his back room tomorrow. I'll let you know. It might not apply nationally, but it has a good chance to be a chain-wide mandate.

Well that's good that gives me some motivation to get up at 6:30.

I may or may not purchase a Wii with some of my next cheque.

T-Minus 7 hours 15 min before operation "Wii Get" commences. My plan consists of waking at 6am and drivng to the gamestop at a nearby mall. If they do not have Wii's then it will be a matter of calling other gamestops in the area to see if they them. There are three gamestops along the same road along with Circuit City, Best Buy, Walmart, and Target. I can hit each one of them sequentually if necessary. I know my odds of finding one drop significantly if I do not arrive when the doors open but I can only choose one opening to stand in line for. I'm playing the odds by hoping that the gamestop in the mall will have Wii's available.

My other option is to try Toys R Us which opens at 5 am. I'm not sure how I feel about this because out of all the black friday sales the Toys R Us sale has the greatest potential for a death or serious injury to occur. Couple the usual psychotic toy shoppers with the fact that I'm in Memphis and you can see my concern. Memphis was recently rated as one of the top ten most dangerous cities. Also I'm trying to shake a cold and depriving myself of sleep isn't be best way to go about that. I may try calling after 5am but they will probably be too busy to answer.

In any event check back tomorrow morning for a full report.

I know you are all anxiously awaiting news on whether or not your fearless leader was able to score a Wii. My alarm was set for 6 am but I woke up at 5 and couldn't go back to sleep. I called TRU at 5:30 and asked the lady if they had any Wiis. She said no and then promptly hung up on me. That's fine with me though since the TRU is located in NE Memphis and I'm in SE.

So I proceeded with my original plan of trying the gamestop in the local mall. I arrived at 6:20 and went inside to find a long line but for what I couldn't tell. I was told it was a line for a gift bag which included coupons and gift cards. Realizing the total uselessness of waiting in this line I walked over to the gamestop to find no one in line there. But then the security guard came up to me and said this part of the mall wasn't open until 7:00. I had no choice but to kick him in the groin and katana chop him into unconsciousness. I knew I had to hide the body so I dragged him to the water fountain and dumped him in. Unfortunately a family of three that was passing by heard the splash. Unfortunate for them, that is. You have to understand that I didn't want to hurt them but I simply had no choice. I couldn't take a chance that they had witnessed me dispatching the security guard. Before they could react I sprang into action, grabbing one of those poles they attach the velvet ropes to and swinging with all my might. The base of the poll connected with the father's skull and made a sickening "crunch" sound. The wife screamed as her face was now speckeled with her former husband's brain matter. I used a dragon claw strike to cut off her air supply and silence her screams. She made a slight wheezing sound as she slowly suffocated to death. Their child was maybe 12 years old and huddled behind one of the fake plants with terror in her eyes. I really do like kids, but come on this is Nintendo we're talking about. I grabbed the ice cream scoop from the dip-in-dots stand and used it to knock her unconcious. I didn't kill her with it though, it's not like I'm a monster or anything. Finally I went back to gamestop to wait in line for my Wii. The fountain was red with the blood of the unbelievers.

I'm really not a bad person, you guys know that right? It's not my fault Nintendo made a counsol so incredibly awesome that it necessitated me taking any actions necessary to acquire it. :tap:

Alright so none of that actually happened, I left when the guard told me to. Instead of waiting at the entrance of the mall I went over to circuit city just in case. That place was a zoo let me tell you. The parking lot was full and when I made inside there were several checkout lines snaking throughout the store. No Wii's of course. Btw is it Wii's or Wiis?

I went back to the mall and waited around until about 6:50. At that point the people coming in the entrances was more than the guards could handle so they started ignoring the ones that were wondering around past the entrance. I quickly made my way to the gamestop where there was only one other person in line. Through the gate the gamestop employee said they did have Wii's. As it turns out they only had three so I got the second one. They had one extra Wiimote but the guy in front of me only got the core system so the second Wiimote was mine! I also got Zelda, Excite Truck and Red Steel.

Operation "Wii Get" was a complete success, or as manasecret would say "YEA BOI I SAIDS I GOTS ME ONE!"

....SWIIT

ok it had to be said. :D

Although you might want to look into trading Red Steel for Rayman, because Red Steel is pretty mediocre I hear.

Grats Neo. I figured a lot of stores had probably been either overnighted a bunch more or were told to hang onto them just in case.

What I dont understand is, if Nintendo was/ is planning to Ship 4 million units worldwide by the end of 2006, where the hell are they? I mean if Gamemasters sig is any indication, they have only shipped a little over 500,000 worldwide. It just dosent make any sense, we were suppoused to be getting a lot more than are out there. NOBODY has it.

The Wii was a big hit with my family. My brother-in-law liked Wii Sports and my 3-year old and 7-year old niece loved Rayman. The 7-year old would aim the Wiimote and fire while the 3-year old would shake the nunchuck to reload. It was really funny watching them play. At one point the 3-year old picked up the Wiimote and was actually doing a great job aiming it properly at the screen.

On my way back to Austin I got stuck in first class for some reason and sat next to this woman who, as it turns out, had been looking for a Wii for her son. She waited in line at TRU but was only able to buy a nunchuck and a copy of Zelda. I said "Sucks to be you hahaha!" Actually no I gave her tips on what she could do to go about finding one.

Care to share? Or do the tips only apply to your specific area?

Oh nothing special really, just about how gamestop should be getting more this week and she should call to find when their shipments will arrive.

Okay, a question for anyone who might know the answer:

In my local Sunday newspaper ads, I noticed Wal-Mart advirtised that the Wii will be available wednesday. Minimum 3 per store, limited quantities, one per customer, blah blah blah.

Anyways, i was thinking about going bright and early to try to nab one, but the problem is our Wal-Mart is open 24 hours, so I really dont know how early is early enough...I mean, how has wal-mart been handling the situation? Will some sort of line form inside the store or what?

Ok of course call them to make sure, but everytime I've gone to a 24 hour Wal-Mart for a launch or something like this, they start selling the things at midnight. Which I say is a good thing, no waiting all damn night and ruining your sleep schedule. I would just get there as early as work or school allows you and start waiting in line. Since there are only three available, and assuming demand is still up, you'll probably have to wait quite awhile, but at least it won't be all night.

Oh, and the way I've seen it they make you wait outside, but that's for launches with a ton of people. They'd probably let you form a line inside since there won't be many of you.

that sucks how the 'big stores' do that.... they get em in and they purposely hold on em until they put em in an ad and release em on a certain day...

if you can hit a gamestore like gamestop or ebgames on a day when they get deliveries they'll release em right away.

i got a bit lucky with mine, i went to gamestop a couple days ago, just as the UPS guy gave em all thier packages. i asked if they had any and they said lets check... opened up a box and there was 3 wii's in it. heh.

Just for the record, their Ad said MINIMUM 3 per store, so hopefully there will be more to go around. But yea I might as well just call tonight and see when they go on sale.
