Limited supply? I don't think it'll be too hard to waltz into a place at noon on launch day and pick one up...well, maybe earlier...but still, this won't be DS Lite kind of hysteria.

Hmmmm, I will probably be able to get a Wii on launch day (especially in my city), but do I risk it? Grrrr.... Precious few hours to decide.

Honestly, just curious...are there many systems (nowadays) where you can 'just waltz in' to a store, on launch day, and 100% wide-eyed'ly expect to get that system?

I'll be nabbing one of our employee preorders they allocated to us as soon as we're open. Most of the Gamestops have 8-16 available to customers and 4-6 available to employees (completely depending on the size of the individual store).

hmmm... went by, just as many people were lined up as with the PS3.
"sold out" preorders before the store opened.
This might be a huge Christmas!!!

Wiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiii!!!!!
Wii's not being preordered until Monday here in Canada. This sucks balls. And, they're only getting 20 - people are already planning to camp out for it. Sigh.

There's really no need for preodering if you're just willing to wait it out in a line for the opening of the store on release day (which in my opinion is spirited and fun). I got a Gamecube with no problem. Waited a few hours but Target handled the whole thing really well. They had the Gamecubes and accompanying supplies all near the Customer Service/Return area near the entrance of the store. Easy in. Easy out.

I wonder how many people are going to offer butt sex to get a new console this Christmas. For the 360 there was like 4, I think? I shall keep track and compare the numbers later.

Have any of you by any chance gotten to play a Wii game? I actually did today, at some big electronics expo in NYC. I waited on the line to try it out, and I played Elebits. I made a complete ass out of myself doing so too. I carefully read the instructions on how to play when the game was loading, but I just still couldn't seem to get a damn thing done in the game. It was rather upsetting.

it means nintendo was trying to get a larger audience of people by making games simpler.... but it doesn't seem to be working so well.... they are just as complicated as they were before.

Yet you'd think that a veteran gamer (like myself) would be able to use it just fine. I was the only one there who was having trouble. (Well, if others did too, I didn't stick around to see for myself. How could I?)
I'm sure I'd have gotten the hang of it if I had more time though. I've seen reviews concerning the controller, and most of them even say the controller takes some getting used to.

You see, I think you answered your own statement or inquiry with your first line.
You are having troubles because you are use to playing with more complicated controllers, I"m assuming others weren't (unless made a typo) because they aren't quite as use to playing with a normal controller.
Its like trying to overcome moving your hand from a fire (not that you would want to) but after a while things just become instinctual to most.

I'm pretty sure everyone else played games on a regular basis, yet they got it right on the first try.
I kind of had the same problem when I first stated playing Star Fox Command. I didn't like the idea of only using the touch screen to control the characters. I did get the hang of it later on though, however. What I don't like is how the top part of the stylus pokes into your thumb.
