NOTE: This is NOT a sexual topic -- get your mind out of the gutter :p
Ok.. I was thinking to myself about having to put up with some pain to get a goal in the end (something that's pleasureable to you). I'm sure almost everyone has gone through this.. so I was wondering...
» Do you know of someone (or yourself) who went through a lot of hell to get something that (to you) didn't seem worth all the trouble?
» Do you know of someone (or yourself) who went through a little bit of hell to get something that (to you) seemed like didn't put enough in to get out?

Umm... I once got five bucks for running into a bus stop thing with a bunch of people in it. That was fun.

Hmmm.. that's all well and good, but I'm talking about like maybe having to give up something or lose something in order to gain something else..

Yeah. I gave up my forehead for gaining five dollars.

Do you still have your forehead now? Thought so.
No, I mean like someone giving up something to get something else.. something that meant a lot to you.

Yes, I gave up my beloved pet penguin chico for eternal life.
Hehe, nah seriously, I can't remember, so I mustn't have given anything that important up.

I give up one elective every year to band, but my teacher is kind of mean so I don't know whether this is pleasure time...
It's worth it though. Next summer we're going to the Sydney Opera House in Austrailia to compete with others around the world. Maybe I'll see one of you guys. :)

Hmm.. how was I able to tell.. let me try and give an example:
I'm in love. I've given up just about my whole world just to get this girl.. just to hold her in my arms..
That's what I mean.. I've given up tons of things, just go get this girl.. now, they might not be material possessions, but my thoughts, value systems, and other things like that: gone - for her.
Hopefully that will help

Well the only thing that comes close is the fact that I had to give up my irst ame Boy to my brother if I wanted a Nicer New one, I did it, but I'm kicking myself now, because my old GB was the original Style Monochrome GB, not GB Pockect, not GB Color, Not GB Advanced.

No.. not quite what I was thinking of.. but uhhh... try thinking outside of material possessions..
Maybe like this:
This guy worked for 12 years as a janitor just to work his was up in a company.. he spent 12 years cleaning piss off the floors, and all the over-flooded toilets.. just to move up in a company.

Yes I'm being serious... Well it was more like I lost a bunch of friends before leaving school, but when you're not in school or any other activities, it's not like you get much of a chance to make new friends...
And it reeeeaally screwed up my school situation... which effects how "good" (meaning how much money you make, even if you're stuck in a job you hate) you do later in life (and frankly, I don't give a rats ass)...
But hey, if I had stayed in public school, I'd probably have killed myself by now ;) :burger:
At least now for awhile I can enjoy lots of gaming time (one of the last good things in my life) and internet chatter... At least I have online friends... *shrugs* Not quite the same though...

DH ......I think you should go back to school....playing video games is fun...but I don't think it will get you anywhere.
Here's a saying I use
Get all you can when your young so you can enjoy it in your old age..( if you don't get shot or stabbed before 40 :p)
Trust me you might regret that move you made...right now I'm bascially regreting wasting approx. two years of my life.......if I didn't waste those two years ....I could be in my final year at University....and ready to go work at a big job and get lots of money.
But errrr back to topic.........I traded a so called friendship for a girlfriend....so called friendship because I realised that the friendship was based on some serious lies.
O another thing I traded was XXX T shirts for well fitting shirts you the girls could see my sexy body...and appreciate it more. :p j/k

Yeah, actually I know someone who busted his balls to get ahead, and it was worth it in the end. That person was my Grandfather, he went out of his way to make sure my Mom and Uncle have a good life, and he once gave up his hobby after he was burglurized twice within' the space of two days, near christmas, he didn't want to see someone steal his model railroading collection, so he sold it all. Later on he regretted it, and started collecing again, when he dfied he had built a new Model Railroad Layout in his Basement, which is going to be in my basement soon, because he wanted my brother ad I to have it. After three years of no use except at christmas, and neglect after he died, it's going to be repaired and maybe a few additon's will be made, provided I can find some old Lionel Trains that work on this type of track. It's in fairly good condition, but he put his life into it, and always liked to have me around when he worked on it. He had little "cmpanies" on the ;llayout named afetr my brother and I.
