Kind of uninspiring but eh. Since they show it from all angles on that one side might have been cool to put each single pic on its respective side. And red font for Spiderman...surprized by the lack of webbing to be found.

That's not a $600 box.

Why is Miyamoto stealing PS3s?

You're right, it's the box for the $500 model (20GB HDD).

Why did they put those PS3's in that kind of packaging if its just being used at TGS? Unless they are showing the box now to gauge "Viewer response" and go from there. Because when buying things, the box can make you go "hmm" for the dumb consumer :p

I suppose you could argue for that point; you'd be able to use at least one post on this thread in its support, too.

"WTF! I payed $600 for a box and I want a damned good one. Not that I'm gonna throw it in my closet or *gasp* in the trash when I've got the console out or anything..."

Edit: 'coset' revised to say 'closet'

I'm content with it.

First, I expected my comment to be taken out of context. Congratulations on doing that.

What I meant was sometimes people look at something on the cover and buy it. Granted, $500-$600 is alot but it could also take a consumer that doesn't know much, see a sexy box with what looks to be a sexy product inside and wonder how they can get ahold of it. I'm not trying to say "OMGWTF BAD BOX SONY LOOSES LOLWTFLMFAO" in case you think I am.

Keep shaking your head if you want, because when you're an Interactive Arts major like me, you become critical and jaded about curious things. From a design perspective, this is a ****ty box. Teuthida even said so, and he's an art student.

They did seem to take classes from the school of Apple, but they really haven't implemented them well.

Darkmaster: Funny, I was talking Canadian.

And what is one of the things that Art Students and, perhaps to a lesser extent, people who major in Interactive Arts do upon graduating? Find a job, perhaps at a big corporation, perhaps designing say, packaging for various products?

Wait, how was your quote taken out of context? You were talking about weak-minded consumers basing their purchase on the quality of a box, right? I simply said you were right and gave an example of what such a person (obviously weak-minded) might say. I was not trying to imply that you are such a person.

However, I did get one part wrong. Based on what I have quoted, it appears you were trying to imply that a weak-minded consumer might buy the product based on the quality of the box. Perhaps it was hard to see that perspective of your post, as that conclusion is non-sequitor when put in context with the general criticism of the box previously expressed within the thread.

And finally, when I said you could support your argument with a post from this thread, I was not referring to your post. I'm sorry I didn't insult you :(

I'm not sure I see your point.

Marketing people usually get to design packaging for some reason.

Well my point was that throwing around titles like "art student" and "interactive arts majorerer" means nothing when the various packaging is probably designed by people who studied in the same, or at least similar fields...

But I guess my point ended up being that I don't know a lick about who exactly designs product packaging...

To my knowledge the 20GB model is $549.99 CAD, but I won't get technical about it. Just a little jab ;)

Hmm, just realized that's it's kind of odd there isn't any marking on the box about it playing Blu-ray. I thought that was going to be a major selling point for the system, being the cheapest Blu-ray player available and all.

The pictures show two of the six sides of the box. For all we know, there could be a list of video game titles accompanied by screenshots on the back, a decent isometric image with a 3-5 selling points in bold on the front, and an ugly little table containing the system's specs and capabilities on one of the sides... leaving the last side for a duplicate of the Spiderman font side. Double-trouble.

Oh wow, I didn't even realize the front and back aren't even shown.
