It pretty much made me more excited about the Wii than anything, ever.

some of the stuff looked good with it. like the baseball and golf, looked right for it...

however, they're doing some stupid stuff like they did with the DS where its not needed.... like in the mario strikers... wiggle the controller to charge at someone, that makes no sense, they're just adding it in there to make it do something... a button is much easier for something like that. they seemed to get passed that with the DS, (just making games use the touch screen for the sake of using it) and the DS games got much better when they used it for when it would really help....... I hope they pick up on that soon for Wii.

the games it showed at the end of the video all looked really good with the remote tho. oh and the battalian wars at the beginning looked to take good advantage of the controller too.

unimpressed with red steel... moving the sword with the controller sounded much better in theory... now it looks like your just doing certain moves... like slash down. then he performs it on screen... i was hoping for a little more real time, like the sword moves as your moving your hand in the slash down. More like how the gun tilts in real time as your tilting it.

Kinda worried about the distance from the screen now. He says it's easier to aim the further back from the screen you are. I was planning on hooking my Wii up to my 14 inch monitor. No way I'll be playing six feet away from it. My TV isn't much bigger at 20 something inches.

that seemed odd to me... you'd think it would be the exact opposite...

the further away you got... the more of a slight movment your hand makes, the bigger movment the sensors would detect. and the closer you got, the more precise you could be with larger movments

I do like how FPS control seems to be comparable to using a mouse.

batallion wars look super hard to control.

Not really. If your closer to the sensor, I think it makes sense that a slight movement would result in more movement on screen than if your are further away. Think of it this way: If your close to someone and they move their hand a foot, left to right, it would look like the moved it farther than if you were standing 100 feet away from them. Now think if you were the sensor...

that probably dosent make sense anywhere except inside my head...

ah, but think it as a laser pointer (or flash light) and walk up close to the wall, move it, and you'll get a smooth very precise movent. Now stand further away, and the same slight movement, moves the dot a much much bigger distance and faster on the wall.

For moving the controller, Jason is correct.
For pointing at the screen, Null is correct.

Unless, of course, the receiver is inside the controller... which would mean distance from the screen is not a factor for movement.

Also, if the controller's projection cannot exceede a certain angle (for example, if the receiver could not read a controller pointing at 45 degrees), it would be easier from a distance, as a smaller angle moves a greater distance.

I think the further you can get from the TV without making it too difficult to control, the better. And, this probably depends on the TV's size. Think of it like turning up the sensitivity on a first person shooter (i.e. Halo). The more sensitive, the easier it is to move. However, if you set the sensitivity higher than you're capable of handling, you'll find your screen flailing around making it difficult to control.
