View Full Version : My car crapped out
I'm driving back from the grocery store and all of a sudden I hear this sound like something is dragging underneath my car. I pull over but the sound continues. Then my power steering and AC go out, and the battery light goes on. As it turns out the serpantine belt which I had replaced just a month ago by the fools at jiffy lube split in half and came flying off. I managed to drive home where I am waiting for a tow truck. Thank you Progressive roadside.
Wow that sucks. Hopefully this doesn't get expensive for you.
What do you drive?

Did you drop any expletives when this was occurring?

Not really actually. I eventually ended up at Firestone where they were able to fix it.
It's a 2000 Stratus. Yes, I drive a DODGE STRATUS! I am a very IMPORTANT PERSON. You don't talk to me like that!
Why do you let them watch the MTV?

A piece of my car fell off once... It was the second time I had taken it out after getting my license... It was a piece of linkage used to change gears...
Quite a thing to happen to a newbie to make you not want to drive anymore...
Fun Fact: My car is 20 years old and has only 29,500 miles on it, and no that's not a typo...Unfortunately it's also a Ford...
If life were like Star Trek:
"Warning: Primary and secondary belts have been destroyed, alternator is offline. Power steering has failed. Water pump cooling system has seized. Attemping to pull over....controls not responding. Main power is offline, auxiliary power levels approaching critical. Life support is failing. Activating emergency window venting system. Core temperature rising, complete engine shutdown is imminent. Evacuating everyone to the rear passenger seats, we're going to have to pop the hood. Estimate total systems failure in 5 min."

why don't you have a spare belt in your trunk? they're like $5
Oh well, that's not so bad, but when your timing belt goes out, that's what sucks, cause it can damage your valves.
