View Full Version : Survivor winner sent to prison for tax fraud
Richard Hatch, winner of the first Survivor reality show, was convicted of failing to pay taxes on his winnings and has been sent to an Oklahoma prison. I thought Oklahoma itself was a prison?
He was sentenced in May to 51 months in prison by a judge who said the reality TV star had lied repeatedly on the witness stand.
Isn't that the same thing he did to win the contest?

isnt that what every survivor winner did to win? pretty much what the whole show is about. :p

Well, it is pretty unfair. Someone wins 1 million and they lose so much of it to taxes.
true, and he didnt even win it in the U.S. he won it in another country. hehe

My favourite was the guy who lied about his dying grandma so they wouldnt vote him off, or let him back on the Island because they figured he needed the money, or something like that.
that is totally something I would do.

yea, he did it for sympathy, which it did get him that, and maybe lasted longer then he should of. but the only direct result of it, that they actually gave him.. was they let him win the challenge where the friend/family member could stay a couple days.
that was his best moment tho, he went down hill fast... he was on some other reality show that one of the other survivors made.. (dont even remember what it was about) but anywho he got kicked off that show for taking a crap on girls bed who also lived in the house on the show.
then he was also appeared on fear factor not too long ago.. and was pretty pathetic on that show... saying how he used to be a life guard so water wasnt a problem for him... but he took like 3minutes to untie some ropes under water when the other teams did it in 30sec. lol

The conviction is old, but he was just now transferred to prison in OK.
