"I am pleased to see Sony taking responsibility for their racially charged ad and appropriately pulling it from the marketplace," said Yee, who has spearheaded state legislation aimed at keeping excessively violent and sexually explicit games out of the hands of minors.
What a prick.
It's only racist if you make it racist.

Each of Sony's controversial PSP campaigns has created massive buzz in the Internet blogosphere -- which can work to the company's advantage.
Sony wins. California Assemblyman Leland Yee loses.

Especially when you consider there's one where the "black PSP representative" has the "white PSP representative" on the ground...
I don't hear anyone crying foul over that one... Or... Even considering it in this whole hooplah...

I already predicted this would probably happen in the other thread that showed the ad ;) and I'm not surprised at the result. Sony expected backlash and they got it.
Will they never learn? or do they need to fire their marketing group to bring in smart people.

Ah, but in the end Sony wins by creating a media stir in the United States for something miles away. Why the hell does a guy from California care? It's not worth arguing, Sony won.

no offense, but obviously you don't know a lick about marketing...
as for my take on the whole thing...people are too damn sensative, they look for every reason to complain about something. you could call me any name in the book, and I would either laugh along with you or (if it's just too vulgar/tasteless) simply ignore you. you make a big stink over something, and it gives people more reason to keep it up...in this particular situation, I'd say mission accomplished for Sony. how else are north americans going to pay attention to an advertisement from the Netherlands?

I said that Stu because they should've realized what it would cause. They knew it would create controversy. They probably wanted it but some people would look at it as a tasteless way to advertise.
So what if I dont know a thing about it. But looking at that ad, it couldve been done alot better.

whether or not it is offensive (it shouldnt be) is a matter of personal opinion, not a generally accepted rule. how many people do you think have heard of this, evaluated it, and decided never to buy a PSP because of it? in the grand scheme of things, very few. on the flipside, how many people are now aware that PSP is coming out in a new colour? many more. although I don't believe in this phrase entirely, it was made for a reason:
"there is no such thing as bad publicity"

All the companies are saying is that Sony couldve chosen a better way to advertise their new color.

Sony knew this would happen, it's just because the PSP ain't selling as well as the DS they have to resort to this type of marketing. Maybe they should concentrate on making better games, rather than marketing.
Smart? Maaaaybe......

and that's all fine and dandy but you're still not making a point, and neither are the people who say "it should have been done better". maybe it should have been...I just wanna know why you say all of Sony's marketing people aren't smart and may need to be replaced
and bobcat...they spend very little time making better games...why waste time doing that? I mean you can't do both, so you might as well stick with marketing...that's the safest bet.

Why waste time? Maybe the systems would sell better if they had better games to support their marketing. There's no point marketing a system with lackluster games (that's my opinion about general PSP games). I still haven't touched mine in a very long time.
Tekken may be a game I will get tho.
I've become very disappointed with it. I imagined many a+ games to be released by now, but there aren't so many that I really like.

first of all, i was being sarcastic
secondly, sony has released some solid games for PSP...if I owned the system i could recommend a handful, but with my limited playtime I can say that WipeOut Pure is a great game, as is Hot Shots Golf Open Tee. those probably arent your kind of games, though...you seem to like Nintendo-made games, their style. which means you shouldn't have bought a PSP

Am I the only one who thought there would be stellar games for the PSP? Like Rpg's, such as FF, DragonQuest, Xenogears?
Or games like Castlevania, a stellar MGS game, Resident Evil?
Can you honestly say that you are satisfied with the PSP games that are available?
That's the main reason why I bought the PSP. I assumed there would be these kinda games.
Any recommendations would be good. Just no racing/sport games. Rpg's/Platform/Strategy/Action/Adventure is what I'm into.
Yes I like Nintendo games, but I like other games too. I own a Ps2 and Xbox. The Ps2 is one of my fave consoles.....the PSP just doesn't do it for me with it's library of games.

My friend Dan from the other forum I post at has a review for it since he's been on a Europe tour for the last few weeks.
http://psp.ign.com/objects/772/772060.html
It looks awesome, and it's not racist at all. It got an A+ on his review...and he's not some IGN reviewer, he's a gamer. So I suspect it is decent, maybe not warranting the purchase of a PSP, but certainly something to check out if you have one.

couldn't find the review. Nonetheless it looks interesting. I'm just eagerly awaiting some great games on this system. Every time I go EB, i'm utterly disappointed with the games it has on show.
Would love a stellar RPG. I'd be playing it on the train non stop.

download the LocoRoco demo...you can find it online, with instructions on how to install it properly or whatever. i havent done it since i dont own a PSP, but i hear it only takes a couple minutes.
and to answer your previous question...no, I don't think the PSP's library of games is very good. I don't think the DS lineup is very good either. I have very little desire to buy either system at this point...I was addicted to WipeOut Pure and Hot Shots Golf when I played them, but that is FAR from enough to warrant spending a couple hundred dollars.

I bought a DS that I'm giving to my brother, for free, as he wants one. I'm not impressed with either systems overall line-up either. However, as I might have said before, you get the benefit of emulation with the PSP. Portable SNES almost justifies the cost, to me. The real deal breaker is the craptacular battery life. Locoroco looks like one of those fun, quirky titles that Nintendo puts out on occasion…when they aren't whoring out their franchises. Maybe there are lots off good titles out…I think the GBA will be the apex of handheld gaming. That thing was fly. I don’t see why there has to be this huge push to put 3D games on handhelds, although that isn’t necessarily the reason for the lackluster title selection. I might repurchase myself a DS in a few years, when Zelda is on it and maybe a few other titles. Otherwise, I’ll just wait until the GBA2 comes out. The DS has done a lot…I figured Nintendo would have unveiled the GBA2 by now.

There won't be a GBA2. The DS is far too successful. They were only considering that when they were unsure how it would be received. Sadly it seems the Game Boy brand is dead.

On comparison, the DS titles have scored better than the PSP's. DS I am happy with so far.
The thing that annoys me is that PSP has such great visuals/sound. It has potential to have some top quality games.
I saw the video, it looks very very kiddy, but that's never stopped me b4 :D It actually looks fun
