Survivor V: Hunt for the Golden Key is a contest consisting of two parts, the Survivor portion and the Treasure Hunt portion.

The Treasure Hunt

Buried somewhere on Treasure Island is a Golden Key which can be used to unlock a chest containing a valuable treasure. In this forum there is a story and a set of 50 clues to help you decypher the location of the Golden Key. The story and the clues will initially only be available to Survivor contestants, but will eventually be revealed to all. All you have to do is go to the place described in the story and you will find your key. The key can be used to unlock a chest containing a brand new DS Lite. Once you have found the key please private message me the location where you discovered it and your solution method. Only the first correct claim will be honored.

The deadline for the treasure hunt is midnight central time on 12/31/06. If no one has come forward with a solution by that time then the key will remain lost forever and the treasure will remain with me. Please don't let that happen!

Survivor

Survivor is a game played by 16 people divided into two teams (or tribes) of 8. These tribes compete in a series of challenges for immunity. When a tribe wins a challenge they gain immunity and do not have to vote off one of their members. The losing tribe, on the other hand, has to go to tribal council where they decide which one of their members they are going to vote off. This process repeats itself until the two tribes eventually merge at which point it becomes every man for themselves. Survivors then compete in challenges for individual immunity. This continues until there are only 2 survivors left, at which point the last 7 people to be voted off come back and vote on which of the 2 wins the prize, which in this case is a brand new game for the Nintendo DS.

The difference between this survivor contest and past contests is that in addition to immunity Survivors will be competing for additional clues to the location of the GameTavern Golden Key. To excel in the treasure hunt you need to be a part of Survivor. Moderators, but not administrators, are elligible for both contests and have no advanced knowledge other than their existence.

Teams will be selected soon, so watch for the sign-ups.

At what point do the tribes merge? When eight survivors are left total? The way I read it, it seems that, hypothetically, if one tribe wins the first eight challenges in a row, then they never have to knock off a team member.

That will not be revealed yet. And yes theoretically it would possible to end up with an 8-2 situation if one tribe is completely dominate. Something similar actually happened during one of the seasons of the tv show. The two or three guys left were like "please let us merge" but Jeff told them no and sent them back to camp ha ha.
