View Full Version : Best Games of E3 (wow list)
i liked DarkMasters post about the games that made him go "Wow" and i figured that would make a good thread. so, What are the games that you were most impressed with at E3?
my picks...
Crysis (PC)
Spore (PC)
Gears of War (x360)
MGS4 (PS3)
Resistance (PS3)
(i was impressed with things about the Wii, just no single game imparticular, games for it IMO need a bit of tweaking still from what i saw.)

Wow? Hmm. I guess only Super Mario Galaxy and Super Smash Bros. Brawl. Zelda is old news and keeping myself from all media till I get to play it so didn't see anything other than what they showed during the conference. Sonic Wild Fire impressed me but didn't make me go wow. Spore did the first time I saw footage of it but like with Zelda old news now. I couldn't sit through the MGS4 trailer. Haven't played the others so not really interested.

that was the reason i didnt list zelda. because it impressed me when they first shown it, but it looks exactly the same since then so i cant say im impressed.
i had heard of spore before, but never bothered to look. so i was impressed with what i saw. :)

Like I stated earlier:
- Metal Gear Solid 4 (PS3) -- There's really not much I could say that you guys probably don't know already, but man, this game doesn't just look incredible, it feels like something truly epic, and beyond anything we knew about what is possible with story-telling in video games. For a long-time series fan like myself, just seeing all these familiar characters coming together at the end of the grand saga, ready for one last climatic showdown, it was really moving. Kojima is such an amazing director.
- Super Mario Galaxy (Wii) -- When I first seen it at the conference, I thought "hey cool, that looks like fun". Then when I got to check it out first hand on the showfloor, I was thinking more along the lines of "holy sh*t". This is the type of game that really embodies the essence of what makes games fun, and really demonstrated for me what Nintendo's focus is with this new console.
- Lost Planet (Xbox360) -- Leave it to Capcom to come out of nowhere and astound with this new third-person shooter. I've known about the game for quite a while now, but finally getting to sit down and play it left a huge impression on me.
Smash Bros Brawl (in a huge, huge way), Zelda: TP (even one screen before it all got me excited), Super Mario Galaxy, the rest of the Wii lineup.
Gears of War (in a huge way), Phantasy Star Universe.
I watched the 15-minute MGS4 trailer but I was not impressed. I'm a fan of MGS and everything, but it did nothing for me. I remember being way more excited about MGS3.

Mario- I figured would be cheap to include them seperately. But new Super Mario Bros which is out tomorrow. Super Paper Mario, I love platformers and I love the Paper Mario style, mix and match and you got perfection. And of course, Super Mario Galaxy. Also, I must say rather happy this is the first e3 in a long time where we were bombared with Mario spin-offfs. Only one I can think of is Mario 3 on 3 and Mario vs Donkey Kong which isn't so much a spin off as a return.
Sonic Wild Fire- looks like a 3D Sonic done right.
Super Smash Bros Brawl
Disappointments
Too Human- Saw a lot of mixed opinions on this one. Quite frankly, I was also disappointed that the game changed from its original style as well.
Ok really only that.

Yes, and unfortunately is was somewhat lame. It's only like 20% complete at this point, and it ran slow, choppy, and buggy. Lots of potential though, methinks.

Mario is the big thing that really impressed me. It really looks like it could return Mario to his glory days, not seen since Super Mario 64. I mean playing SM64 was just so incredibly fresh at the time...I almost get the same feeling when I see Galaxy. Im keeping my fingers crossed that it will be a launch title.
