You ever see all those funnie numbers in people's sig?
Friends codes are your unique number to give friends when playing on WiFi.

Basically, you get someones friend code, add them to your "friend list" in that one game. Like MK: DS for example. I give friend code to Dyne, he adds it, If im online when he's looking for me, I'll show up on his.
Unfortunatley, you can't SEARCH for any friend codes on Nintendo's Wi-Fi network as far as I know. It makes it a major pain in the arse to find anyone if you dont have internet access besides random joe-schmo.
Its the worst idea Nintendo did for online play. Take a page from MS and other companies and allow the freedom to have one handle, not 50 friend codes, 1 for each game.

stu and Null, Friend codes are what Nintendo is using to get you to play with people you know via wifi. You get a unique friend code with each WIFI enabled DS game, so if you want to add a friend of yours to your "friend list", you need your friends friend code, then you have to enter it on your own DS and the two of you can now play aginst each other.
Well maybe it wont be as bad...like maybe it wont be as restricted as it is on the DS. Maybe each system will be one unique friend code. I mean, this way hopefully once you enter a friend's code, its entered permanetly, as in saved to the Wii's flash drive. This would be much better than what you have to do now on the DS, where you get a new friend code for each game then have to re-enter all your friend codes. So maybe even there could be some sort of online program built into the Wii where you could see what friends you have that are online (before every booting up a game), and also see what they are playing. That way if you wanted to join them you could just insert the same game that they happen to be playing.

Just consider this: free online play. I think I can tolerate friend codes with that in mind.

What the balls? Smarten up dammit, those friend codes are lame.
Well they'll probably base it off of that, but add a ton of functions. Sure it was easy, but I'm sure they'll add a search function or something. I hope.

it's different though
friend code, enter it in, you'll always know whether your friend is online or playing a game or what not with wii connect24
Not as bad as it sounds, also will weed out playing 12 year old potty mouths in games.
Can they make one friend code for ALL games?

Can they make one friend code for ALL games?
Thats exactly what im hoping for, because that would pretty much solve all of the current friend code problems.

Thats what I hope for, just a "global" friend code. Not one for each game. Something where you load the Wii, see who's playing and see if you want to play against them. Not be left in the dark or whatever.

I think the individual codes for each game was a mistake. Maybe an unfixable one though?

Wow, this is so Nintendo, even for Nintendo.
Can they make one friend code for ALL games?
How in the hell is that different from just letting people pick a handle?

Nintendo is very protective of their costumers........ a bit too much. Can't they get a safety option on the console for child users.... and a function for adults to let them create a consistent username for online play?
